Saudi Arabia Warns of Economic Fallout if Congress Passes 9/11 Bill
New York Times ^

Saudi Arabia has told the Obama administration and members of Congress that it will sell off hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of American assets held by the kingdom if Congress passes a bill that would allow the Saudi government to be held responsible in American courts for any role in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

The Obama administration has lobbied Congress to block the bill’s passage, according to administration officials and congressional aides from both parties, and the Saudi threats have been the subject of intense discussions in recent weeks between lawmakers and officials from the State Department and the Pentagon. The officials have warned senators of diplomatic and economic fallout from the legislation.

Adel al-Jubeir, the Saudi foreign minister, delivered the kingdom’s message personally last month during a trip to Washington, telling lawmakers that Saudi Arabia would be forced to sell up to $750 billion in treasury securities and other assets in the United States before they could be in danger of being frozen by American courts.

It is really time to cut the cord with this despicable regime, and its repulsive Wahabbism.

America has protected the corrupt devilish Saudi royalty for decades. It is time to remove that protection and let justice punish their criminality.

Watch the royal family flee and hide.

the bush family is as corrupt as the Clinton family. if you look at there finances at the time that 9-11 happened it was so entwined with Saudi Arabia that it would of hurt the Bush family really bad if we had gone after Saudi Arabia. I don’t think the Bushes had anything to do with the planes and the towers going down but they had everything to do with how they guided then anger afterwords.

A large part of the problem in America, our leaders are beholden to foreign interest. I'm with you, screw the Saudis. We have a right to know.

The first George Bush got us in this mess

All he had to do was continue the Reagan Revolution

He dumped Reagan the first day

Drill baby drill

Sarah is right about that

Tell the Kings there on there on there own

No more dead Americans for your oil

Trumps right take the oil if we do anything for them

Helps one to understand the excessive influence Saudi Arabia has on our government.

The Saudis can threaten to sell off billions of US assets, but they could take a serious loss if they do. I heard they were having financial problems. If so, a big sell off wont help.

Too, after selling off what I would assume are good assets generating a reasonable or better return on investment, where will they invest these billions to get a comparable, equally safe ROI? A solid portfolio is hard to replace. My guess is that there are not a lot of highly profitable, safe investment opportunities in the world just waiting for investment at rock bottom prices.

Perhaps they can invest in Venezuela or Cuba. Zimbabwe is begging for investment. There is always Communist China. Maybe buy up a bunch of EU windmills or any investment in Russia.

Go look at the dozen odd people around him, and the lobbyists who funneled money into the campaign. Various characters had connections back to Saudi deals. Wasn’t Cheney connected to Bectal, who was doing big deal for Saudi Arabia?

I would say this....the first billion or two that they try to quickly sell...it might go for 100-percent of the value. Then it’ll get quiet for an hour or two, and I think the next round of sales will drop to 90-percent value. After an hour or two as you get close to 10 billion sold.....then it’ll drop in value drastically....probably 50-percent value.

They might be able to some value out of a quarter of the 750 billion....the rest will all go for half value. It might hurt the US for several months...but for the Saudis, it’ll destroy their economy, trigger some crisis where the King will be ‘let go’, and cause instability in the region for years.

Furthermore, the 9/11 Commission should have asked Fort Meade: Do you have any other info that is relevant?

I agree with trump on a few things one is if we are providing military defense for a country tax that country and with draw from it if they don’t pay . all it will take is the us totally ignoring the military advances on that country for them to decide tat there choices are to have a substantial military them selves or to help pay for our presence.

Osama bin Laden is a member of the House of Saud. He was cast out by his family members and went to the Sudan where he made his way to Afghanistan where he was trained by the USA to help Afghanistan fight USSR. Osama bin Laden was Wahabist trained and the USA did not know this. Through his training Osama Bin Laden became a Shiek with religious clout and authority. In Dori Gold’s book, Hatred’s Kingdom, it goes into detail on the origination of how the House of Saud got into bed with the Wahabiists. The Wahabiists were set to destroy the House of Saud but the House of Saud made a deal with them and were allowed to survive. The House of Saud is actually a puppet government and the real control is the Wahabiist faction that resides in the KSA. The House of Saud is by far from innocent in the attacks however, they are a hostile ally in the region. The letter for the declaration of war as penned by the late Osama bin Laden used the Quar chapter 9 verse 5 as justification. The claim made then is that in order for the KSA to be Dar al Salam the infidels had to be removed from the land. The House of Saud did not want this and to try to shut up bin Laden, expelled him from the KSA. The KSA’s greed is what kept them as allies to the USA. Now that the USA has shown it can be solely reliant on its own fossil fuel production, the KSA has done everything in their power to keep the money flowing to their state and into their pockets. They artificially lowered the price of oil to remove the American producers from the market and is why we continue to see low prices today. Subsequently it was they who also artificially increased the oil prices to meet obligations they had. Since 9-11 the KSA has held annual telethons to give money to the murderers who have blown themselves up in the killing of what they deem to be non-believers, kafirs, unbelievers, or al mushrikun, whatever you want to label them. The KSA actually needs the money as their artificial lowering of oil prices have drastically hurt them as well. Whether or not the USA passes into law allowing the KSA to be liable for the deaths of thousands on 9-11 will not be a factor in the selling of securities it holds to raise money it desperately needs. This is merely rattling a scabbard that holds no sword.
