Donald Trump is close to the 50 percent mark among Connecticut likely Republican primary voters, while Ohio Gov. John Kasich tops Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas in the race for second place, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

Likely Republican primary voters give Trump 48 percent, with 28 percent for Kasich and 19 percent for Cruz. Only 5 percent are undecided, but 25 percent of those who name a candidate say they might change their mind before the April 26 primary. By 59 – 33 percent, Connecticut Republicans want an outsider for president, rather than someone experienced in politics.

Among those who want an outsider 75 percent back Trump. “Connecticut Republicans have gone for outsider candidates such as Linda McMahon and Tom Foley. They continue that trend with Donald Trump,” said Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz, PhD. “The conventional wisdom that Sen. Cruz is too conservative for Connecticut looks true, as he comes in a distant third in the Republican primary. Kasich clearly is outpacing Cruz for second, but running well behind Trump

New York: Much ado about a state who hasn't delivered a single electoral vote to the GOP since Reagan's 49 state blowout in 1984. It hasn't even come close!

Connecticut: Much ado about a state who hasn't delivered a single electoral vote to the GOP since Bush's 40 state blowout in 1988. It hasn't even come close!

I'd suggest they both do something to themselves which is anatomically impossible.

Too many delegates are assigned to states which are most unlikely to vote GOP in the fall. I am not a never Trump kook, but paying so much attention to places like New York, California and Connecticut is silly.

We could be spending the next three months destroying Hillary, but because some lunatic Fringe religious nut fancies himself the ‘Anointed Seventh King’, we will have three more months of the GOPe Cheap Labor express attacking Trump. Thanks Teddy, you piece of s***

The GOP establishment is just fine with a Clinton victory - they fear losing free trade and open borders so much they will sabotage their own party over it.

Better than Colorado where people woke up to the sleaze Ted Cruz was bragging aboput how he won a purple state without 1.1 GOP Voters didn't Vote.

The end of Ted Cruz

The problem with a vote for either Cruxz or Kasich now is that it’s a vote for self-destructive chaos in June and defeat in November.

As soon as this race moves west, Trumps campaign goes south.

Trump already won the southern states?

It’s his style of conservatism, not his ostensibly pure ideology per se. More or less pure conservatism can sell well nationally if packaged attractively, see Reagan, R., but Cruz’s Bible thumping Texas conservatism packaged in his abominable personality is not a national sell.

[And like I’ve been saying Oregon and Washington state will go just like California for Trump. This thing has been over for awhile now.]

Bill Hemmer on Fox last night was calling WA and OR for Cruz. He’s another anti-Trumper who I can’t stand. Only thing I like about him is his luck to be sitting next to Martha MacCallum every day.

Trump will have a huge head of steam once the race moves west. Cruz will only be the establishment’s wholly owned subsidiary, and most of his supporters will either stay home or switch to Trump. Few people really want to see the republicans go thru a disruptive and divisive open convention, that’s just the dream of the establishment, hoping they can hand the nomination to Bush or someone other than Trump.

Ted Cruz is losing because he is too conservative for the liberal Northeast...

Posted on ‎4‎/‎16‎/‎2016‎ ‎8‎:‎24‎:‎54‎ ‎PM by Jim Robinson I was told yesterday that Trump is a liberal Democrat. My reply: Build the wall. Enforce the law. Deport them all. End sanctuary cities. End anchor babies. Slap a moratorium on muslim immigration. Cut the taxes. Cut the spending. Cut the regulations. Cut the government. Cut the debt. Cut the EPA. Repeal ObamaCare. Get the feds out and allow health insurance to be sold over state lines. Send education back to states. Get a handle on trade. Make trade deals in our own best interests. Bring back capital. Bring back manufacturing. Bring back jobs. Strengthen the economy. Defend the second amendment. Defend religious freedom. Appoint constitutional conservative judges. Rebuild our military. Bomb the shit out of ISIS (and take their oil). End political correctness. Take the GOP head-on. Take the media head-on. Take the liberals head-on. And win, baby, win. All of the above on a shoestring budget compared to most of the 16 competitors he’s defeated (after they spent 100's of millions of donor bucks). No PACs. No big donors. No party support. What’s democrat about any of the above? What’s not conservative? What’s not to like? And I’ll add a few more: Redo the horrid Iran deal. Take a serious look at NATO. Require our allies to pay more for their defense. Rebuild the Reagan Coalition and attract blue collar workers by making America first again on manufacturing, trade, secure borders, economy and jobs, jobs, jobs! Make America Great Again!
