Trump: You Bet I Support Raising Taxes on the Rich
Townhall ^ | 04/21/2016 | Guy Benson

Posted on 04/21/2016 2:08:04 PM PDT by Responsibility2nd

GUTHRIE: Do you believe in raising taxes on the wealthy?

TRUMP: I do. I do – including myself. I do.

That was...this morning, in an interview that featured some other controversial statements.  In fairness to Trump, he's been using the "raise taxes on rich people like me" line for months, embracing Obama-style class warfare tax gimmicks like the 'Buffet Rule.'  But raising taxes on anyone, an outcome Trump just re-endorsed, is not what his formal policy agenda proposes.  Just the opposite.  As we've seen on issues such immigrationabortion and foreign policy, Trump routinely makes clear that he isn't familiar with his own positions.  His stances aren't rooted in conviction, coherent ideological underpinnings or governing philosophy.  They "evolve" and morph depending on how Trump is feeling in any given moment.  Some professed conservatives may be perfectly comfortable voting for a tax-hiking, entitlement reform-opposing critic of Ronald Reagan's tax cuts.  But many Republicans, including a 62 percent majority of GOP primary voters thus far, aren't eager to turn the keys of the party over to someone whose record and current statements build a strong case against the proposition that he's reliable conservative -- or much of a conservative at all.  Parting thought: It's astonishing that this man appeals to people who loathe establishment "insider" types.  Earlier in the answer above, longtime Democratic donor chuckles with multimillionaire celebrity newsman Matt Lauer about all the fancy parties they've attended together with hotshot bankers in New York.  Man of the people.

Poor little Guy Benson, the Trump Troller.

Trump’s system is on his website and has been for months. It contains a higher upper bracket and a lower bracket for everyone else and a lower corporate bracket AND a one-time repatriation low tax to bring money back into the US without penalty.

Maybe Donnie should take up wearing the yellow Mao smock that Hitlery has been wearing.

Trump has no real idea what he will do.

He shifts with the wind.

But we still don’t know about how the Donald actually pays taxes, do we?

Where is his tax return?

Sorry Cruz supporter, Not a one was a disaster for Trump. As you have seen outside your 22 people gatherings with the loser Cruz people are not buying the Establishment spin. It assumes Conservatives are stupid and believe everything they are told by establishment sources. His Bathroom statement NOTHING, His tax Statement NOTHING, ect. People not in Cruz camp do not do the sound bites, they actually look at context because Cruz and establishment are not trustworthy.

My understanding is that Cruz wants a Sales tax, not the rebate structure associated with at VAT.

But I am not advocating for Cruz or a VAT.

You need to check into Piedmont; it’s just down the road a bit in Lynchburg. They’ll do their best to help you.

Truth is the rich have many, many loopholes and some don’t pay as much as regular people working - they get all the tax breaks.

You will never hear me complaining about making too much money...

BUT

My family makes a lot of money, and we pay a lot of taxes. I don't know what all these tax break are that you are talking about, because well over half of our family income goes to taxes when you combine Fed, State, Local, Property, Sales and various fees.

Show me anybody making less that $150,000 a year who is paying more than half his income in taxes.

“Tax the rich” is old hat. How about eliminating the loop holes or having a flat tax.

Transgenders Should ‘Use the Bathroom That They Feel Is Appropriate’

Care to explain on how one enforces this?

Trump took the sensible approach without creating a government bureaucracy to deal with this. Do you want a federal potty police?

“Are we allowed to point out that we disagree with the positions he appears to be taking now that the conservative portion of the Republican primary is over?”

You can’t tell the difference between that and saying “Trump supporters are stupid?”

I can show half a dozen posts in the first page that say or imply that.

We have had close to 2 trillion in debt added per year under a Republican congress. Tell me again where there is a conservative spending plan? You act like we have a choice in the next election. There is no choice. The fundamental transformation of America is finished. Can’t we just have one politician that isn’t a jack-wagon? Cruz is a Senator and Trump is... I don’t know what he is.. But if you do not start understanding that the one to blame is not Trump or his supporters, it is the people who have changed this country to the point that it is actually an issue of of who uses which toilet. It is the people who have spent money to the point that it is going to take a significant portion of its wealth to fix. It is the people who live in an arrogant world where they play casual games with the lives of people and call it foreign policy.

Cruz lost this election when he went to the 1st debate and was content to let the media rip Trump. He could have stopped all of that right there but he did not. I shouted at the TV when he stayed silent. If he had shut it down right then and there and said that is not what this election is going to be about he would have this thing won. He was content with the politics of personal destruction so that is what we have. He thought he he could use the media to destroy Trump and he lost. Now you can blame fellow Freepers or you can work with reality. He made a serious mistake when he did this and now he has lost. We all have to pay the price for his hubris. Think about that before you think Cruz is so smart. The best we can hope for is a Cruz / Trump alliance so he can learn how to humble himself so his ideas can be used.

What shifts with the wind is the media (and FR) representations. Even about stuff that has been on Trump’s website for months and which Trump has not said anything to contradict.

This is getting really infantile.

If nobody but grownups is left on FR, maybe it will be for the better.

Again with the website???

What about what Trump actually says.

A smarter person created the website. Of course it sounds good.

He is talking about the carry over interest loop hole that affects the wealthiest hedge fund managers.

It is something he talks about, I am not a hedge fund manager so I can not relate to this tax increase.

I guess when he talks about rich, he really means the uber rich, not the making 50K a year rich that Bernie and the rest of the liberals hate
