Joe Scarborough: Donald Trump Is A Centrist Democrat On Social Issues, "It's Not Been A Secret"
RCP ^ | 4/22/16 | Tim Hains

Posted on 04/22/2016 8:39:14 AM PDT by KansasGirl

Joe Scarborough reacts to the debate surrounding the revelation of "two Donald Trumps" -- a conservative primary Trump giving way to a centrist general election Trump.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: [Trump] is going back to what he has always been. We have said on this air nonstop. He is a Democrat. He is a centrist Democrat. Who gave money to Democrats for years. He has never been a conservative. That's not been a secret to anybody. And yet he has blown the doors off every Republican primary.

And when he goes into the general election, it is going to be harder for Democrats to say he has been a right wing religious fanatic who is going to keep you away from abortion, and keep you away from same-sex...

It doesn't make it right or wrong, it makes it harder for Democrats.

Donald Trump only attacked Cruz after Cruz began attacking Trump, and doing so in a manner that clearly was tantamount to bearing “false witness.”
It is not really that long ago. But Donald Trump’s originally harshest attacks were directed at Jeb Bush. He treated Cruz with the highest respect, before Cruz crossed the line, morally, by engaging in cherry picked facts, taken wholly out of context, and then grossly misinterpreted. Had Cruz not violated a central tenet of Cruz’s own proclaimed theology, he would never have been attacked by Trump.

Look. This is all very painful to me. I was neutral between Trump & Cruz until the eve of our Ohio Primary. (Support For Trump & Cruz.)

jeesh dude that’s just asinine...Trump attacks anyone in front of him. The “he started it” stuff is silly. Cruz was always going to attack trump and trump was always going to attack anyone thats ahead...

What was very, very wrong with it, is that he cherry picked incidents out of context. Cruz is intelligent enough to understand that he was bearing false witness, by ignoring the context of what he picked out of context.

By the way, is Cruz involved in the attack on Phyllis Schlafly? Her Conservative record & identification is absolutely flawless. But Cruz is being accused of involvement with those trying to take her organization away from her. (I really do not want to believe that he would stoop to involvement in that; but he has been openly accused of involvement!)

He’s a successful businessman who sees the disaster that is the USA right now...His businesses go the same way as the country...he knows that not one of the “establishment elites” in Washington give a damn about what the country does as long as they keep their cushy lifestyles and go on giving speeches every few months to continue giving promises that they have no intention in keeping...
Trump saw the only way to stop this BS is to become the leader of the country as he has his businesses...That’s the way to save his businesses AND the country...

I agree with you. We have lost the social wars to the progressives who are using PC as a ploy to win elections after brainwashing society into buying into the PC crap. Their ultimate goal is to destroy the US, the last bastion of freedom. We may need to ignore these battles, FOR NOW, in order to save the country. Trump loves this country and has the fortitude and demeanor to fight for it. I urge people to check into Dr. Anthony Napoleon, a forensic psychologist, on twitter. Read his books about the Marxist plan to take over America, the Progressive Virus, and Shadow Men. He believes that Trump is the country's best, and maybe only, person to make it through this crisis.

Speculation and hopeful wishing. Cruz has only demonstrated mastery of the rules to the detriment of real honest to goodness voters that can go somewhere on one day and make their feelings known.

What? Because you can’t keep up, you think TRUMP flip flops? Try to follow the bouncing ball, stay on the road and you won’t get so behind.

Voters are so far ahead of you now, it must be embarrassing.

No demonrat would be for a border wall and fair trade. No GOPe member would support that either. Trump never protrayed himself to be a holy roller like snake handling Ted, but said he would protect Christians.

He’s there for trade and immigration.

And yet we are supposed to believe a man that has his own branded products made in Mexico and China is going to fix the trade problems; and a man that refuses to hire available American workers at his resorts, but brings in hundreds of foreign workers on H2-B visas, is going to fix the immigration problem. That seems to be the definition of the triumph of hope over experience...

I actually appreciate your post. And I get where you are coming from.

Please hear my criticism of it with an open heart.

Conservatives should never get into the cult of personality and we know deep down inside it takes a lot more than one person to turn it around. Trump may help, but I seriously doubt it based on his previous positions / money support.

The reality is that no “True” Conservative or otherwise can win a National Election. Even Reagan winning in 1980 was a fluke. Reagan won only because of Carter’s ineptness with the Hostage’s and the Economy. George Bush’s was was a real fluke and in hindsight never should have won, Gore ran a lousy campaign.

Is Trump perfect, no he isn’t. But what he represents is the total disgust the voters have now with both parties and politicians in general.

Trump has exposed the total corruption of both parties and and the fact that this country is careening toward a bleak future. I don’t expect Trump to be able to solve all the problems. I will be satisfied if destroys the Republican Party and get may two or three things done he wants, much like Reagan. Reagan by the way was no real Conservative either and was more Center Right.

So was Reagan. Big deal. The social issues wars have gained us NOTHING. “Social conservative” George W. Bush did not cut a single penny from Planned Parenthood, and foisted Ted Kennedy’s gay-promoting Common Core on tens of thousands of American public schools. So sick of phony rhetoric on this. Ted Cruz is unelectable, and John Kasich and Paul Ryan are Progressives who want to PROMOTE it...and none of them will build a wall or keep a single Muslim out. Only Trump will.

Supported TARP
Supported auto bailouts
Supported Obama’s nonStimulus giveaway
Supported socialized medicine
Donated money to Hillary’s Presidential campaign
Supported amnesty for illegals (opposed Romney’s self deportation position) and still supports touchback amnesty
Supported a net worth tax
Opposed Reagan’s tax cuts and Reagan
Said yesterday that he supports raising taxes on the rich

Trump held these positions/views as a PRIVATE CITIZEN.” “Lyin” Ted Cruz did the following as a sitting U.S. Senator:

1) Supported an increase in H1B Visas from 65,000 to 325,000 annually

2) Worked with Paul Ryan to pass TPA (Think TPP)

3) Voted for the horrible Iran Corker Bill

4) Passed out Teddy Bears and soccer balls at the Southern border to illegals with nutjob Glenn Beck

5) Lied about Ben Carson leaving the GOP Primary during the Iowa Caucus

6) Sent out those sleazy mailers in Iowa to blackmail Iowa voters

_________________________________________________

Shall I go on? Amazing how you Cruzbots gloss over Lyin” Ted’s record as a sitting U.S. Senator, but act outraged at Trump’s positions as a PRIVATE CITIZEN. Freaking hypocrites!

If FR is going to go all in for Trump, then I believe every Freeper who got the zot for supporting Rudy Giuliani is owed an apology, and a welcome back with open arms.

I don't gloss over them, I am very much disturbed by them and my support of Cruz is tepid at best because of them.

But I guess you are OK with Trump's BS over and over. Its really not worth debating anymore. I think Trumpsters have bought into the cult of personality and really don't give a damm that Trump is a militant RINO...
