Donald Trump Won’t Self-Fund General-Election Campaign

Donald Trump won't self-fund his general-election campaign, and will instead create a "world-class finance organization," the presumptive Republican nominee said in an interview on Wednesday.

For a campaign expected to cost more than $1 billion, "I'll be putting up money, but won't be completely self-funding, as I did during the primaries," Mr. Trump said. The New York businessman, who did receive some mostly small unsolicited donations, lent his campaign $36 million of the $47 million he spent through March.

That plan represents a shift for Mr. Trump, who has for months portrayed his Republican opponents as "puppets" for relying on super PACs and taking contributions from wealthy donors that he said came with strings attached.

The RNC has no money they spent on trying to stop Trump and paid for 60,000 negative commercials against Trump.

It didn’t work because the people know Romney, Reindeer Penis and the RNC are liars and Trump is a straight shooting America first patriot.

Nothing wrong with money raising if they know that they ain’t going to be able to have expectations, they ain’t going to buy access or influence, and they can’t expect favors.

Once the ground rules are set in Stone Trump can see if he can raise for the Party and his campaign. I think Trump is unique, he has friends like Icahn, Wynn, and others who want to see the country win and not Hillary.

Do you even hear what you wrote?

He used his own money for the primaries
He got the cash by borrowing against his investments
Either he pays himself back or he cashes out his investments
The cost to you was, and is ....

Nor should he...

It’s time for the Republican party to step up and support their nominee to defeat the Dem nominee, whether it’s Hillary or anyone else.

I would not expect him to pay for the general election.

Trump beat 16 others, who spent almost $400 million to defeat him.

He spent almost $47 million of his own money and took 10 months of insults, attacks and smears, and emerged victorious.

That’s right. No way he should put up $1 billion of his own money for the general election. It’s a joint thing with the RNC anyways . . .

Not feasible without billons. Saudi Clinton infusion. Can’t win without infusion. Want Trump to win.

By having outside funding, he keeps his personal money in reserve.

He thus retains the option of telling any or all of the donors to go to hell if they dare to presume that giving him money allows them to give him orders.

He never “ promised” to self fund the General election

We all owe him a debt for taking down the rotten media and certain presumptuous political RINOs and RINO dynasties

Perfectly reasonable decision. Trump will not be representing only himself now that he is the Nominee...or after he is officially designated as such. He will be carrying the colors for the entire republican party and all its contenders. He’ll be raising money for the party and others should carry the load. He has done a tremendous job on his own. Time for the party to work FOR Trump instead of against him.

Is he taking Prince Rebus RNC money?

He'd damn well better. This isn't the same as special interest money, it's a Republican campaign. The RNC needs to promote the top of the ticket to help down ballot races. But I really, really hope Trump doesn't take from super pacs or special interests. That would kill me.

From small donors in a general election Trump will get somewhere between $250 to $500 million. Trump can run a very effective campaign without spending a billion or more as we have witnessed.

“How do they threaten or coerce him?”

By saying they are going to cut him off and shift their money to Hillary.

That was to answer your question.

Aside that,

One of the things Trump and his supporters always said was he funded himself and was therefore his own man. He was not sold out or beholden to anybody.

That was his big selling point.

He can’t say that now.

It seems pretty late to be making this decision. He should have been raising money all along yet he’s just now thinking about raising money. He’s operating in slow motion.
