Complete Headline: Relatives' fury as black church plans to KEEP over half the donations received after race hate massacre last year - doling out just $1.5million to victims' families

Relatives of those killed in the Charleston church massacre have hit out at religious officials after it was revealed they will keep more than half of the money donated in the wake of the shootings.

[Snip]

Rev. Sharon Risher, whose 70-year-old mother Ethel Lance died in the shooting, told The Post and Courier that church officials are 'continuing to disrespect the families' of victims.

Keep over half the donations

You might call it an act of love.

Love of money, that is.

Isn’t it odd that this story has to get reported in the UK? Wouldn’t you think the US media would consider it to be news?

The boy was pure evil but in fact those South African flags on his black jacket were photoshopped.

someone out there wanted his racial prejudice to be completely unmistakable so they were “helping” public perceptions along.

it doesn’t detract from the evil in his act but the flags are fake.

If that church has a bishop, he/she/it will demand their % off the top.

Suckers. Now they know what it feels like to wage earners who regularly see half their stake go down the toilet.

Gibsmedat clergy and relatives of the victims arguing over the blood money. Michael Brown’s mother and grandma brawling over "Don’t Shoot" T-Shirt cash. Happens every time.

Tamir Rice's family just got a 6 mil plus payoff from the city of Cleveland.

Mmm mmm mmm... Dead black people be a money making opporTUNITY for their relatives!

1.5 million was distributed among 9 people. If distributed evenly that’s more than $150,000 each.

A decent funeral is $25,000 - How much more than that did they need to bury their dead plus some compensation from lost wages/income.

The church, where this atrocity occurred, collected 3.3 million and probably had in the low 6 figures worth of damage it had to repair as well.

Greed. Pure, greed.

So now they’re suing the church (more $$$ lost) to gimme dat?

It's standard procedure for charities to dole out the money to the victims' causes that generated it and reallocate it to other "needs". Sometimes (but not always) an honest broker of those funds will take nothing for themselves or any cause, and all the money goes to the victims. Anything that goes through United Way or Red Cross (among others) suffers that fate.

If there's a situation where someone is in need because of a tragedy that befell them, the best thing to do is directly make out a check or give cash to that person.

Another thing to watch is "bundling". Almost all groups that collect clothes and other items for the needy sell them for a small amount of money per bag. The goods go to a second hand shop or somewhere else where they are sold. You'd probably be helping the needy more if you left the used items off anonymously at a bus stop. (or some other way to get them directly to those in need)

Even charity has become an elitist scam.

Wouldn’t the property damage to the church be covered by their property insurance policy??? Just asking; I’m assuming the church had insurance for property damage.

As much as we still grieve for such incidents, it sounds like the church and these people saw a money making opporutnity here.

And Cleveland will tell the County and State they need MORE of OUR money because the city is broke. The sheriff lost out to an opponent because he said the family was looking for a large financial settlement.

This defies logic. We STILL don't know who provided Tamir with that non-lethal gun with the identifying tape removed. That's the person or persons who should be sued.
