Nebraska GOP Convention Humiliates Ben Sasse with Crushing 400 to 8 Reprimand
Breitbart ^ | May 15, 2016 | Michael Patrick Leahy

It was a huge hometown comeuppance for the young Nebraska senator who easily won his first political race in 2014.

Though the former official in the George W. Bush Department of Health and Human Services has been popular in his home state until Saturday, the utter rejection of the “Never Trump” efforts he has championed is sure to hurt his credibility with GOP voters in Nebraska.

His strongly conservative voting record on all matters except trade, where Trump is strongest, kept people from even speculating about a primary challenge when he runs for re-election in 2020. But now — with his “Never Trump” effort becoming a hugely unpopular misstep back home — that clear path to renomination may be in question...

It’s alleged that Ben Sasse helped cover up the sexual abuse of underage male pages while tutoring and overseeing the House Page Program in the late 1990’s. Fortunately for Sasse, House ethics investigations are steeped in secrecy with no transparency so if he did cover up the abuse, which many reliable sources allege he did, he got away with it

There’s more! Sounds like a real sleaze at

From 1996 to 1998, Sasse worked as a tutor and one of four proctors with the U.S. House of Representatives Page Program where his job entailed the responsibility for the safety and welfare of the pages who were enrolled. However, it was during this period that much of the sexual molestation of Congressional pages took place, with Represenatives Mark Foley and Jim Kolbe being implicated in the scandal. Foley resigned from his seat in 2006 while Kolbe, though cleared in the investigation, decided not to run again.

“How weird it seems, that what should happen, happens.”

The minute Trump said “there’s no room in my life for political correctness” and didn’t buckle down to Megyn Kelly in the first debate the entire political and social universe shifted.

Heritage has him rated at 96% for conservatism - yet he works to put Hillary in the WH. Being conservative doesn’t always equate to having brains.

Yep. ELCA is one of the fastest shrinking mainline denominations. I'd like to think their traitorous open border stance has a lot to do with it.

Absolutely agree with you. He had every chance of getting on the national stage with the other 18 candidates and could have presented an alternative but he choose not to do so.
Its almost cowardly in my opinion to come back afterwards to present an alternative.
Maybe he is trying to present an opposition stance to some of Mr Trump’s liberal views but there is a time and place for it and not now IMHO.

Cornhuskers haven’t had much of a good senator since Roman Hruska and Carl T. Curtis.

He contracted a case of Potomac Fever, like most politicians who make it to DC.

We donated to his campaign.

The conservative voice needs to be heard, but 3rd party, when Trump speaks to so much conservatives already value, is lunacy.

I could make the same concerns of Cruz, if he were the nominee—that he’s too liberal and ineffective for the conservative movement. But I wouldn’t if he were the nominee, because he’s pretty solid on many decent points.

We won’t, and can’t, find perfection. That doesn’t mean we take down people who greatly agree, but who are different than we expect.

Taking out everyone because they aren’t 100% “me” will assure only liberals succeed.
