When Australia's most successful Olympian, Ian Thorpe, came out as gay in an interview with Sir Michael Parkinson in July 2014, he was inundated with messages of support.
At the time, some posed the question: does this even count as news? Is homosexuality today not a simple biographical detail rather than a sensational scandal?
And yet, it is significant that on the same night that Thorpe came out, Australian Rules Football commentator Brian Taylor used a homophobic slur on air, referring to Geelong player Harry Taylor as a "big poofter."
The two events accentuated perfectly why it remains the case, especially in the ultra-masculine world of sports, that a young gay athlete may feel scared to come out to themselves and their family, much less the fickle media and ambivalent public.
A culture of homophobia still permeates many sections of society. A Western Sydney University study has suggested that the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transsexual Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ) community face higher rates of suicide and self-harm than the hetero-normative mainstream. The Growing up Queer study found that 16% of young people who identify as LGBTIQ have attempted suicide and 33% have self-harmed.

There is very little homophobia in our society. The emphasis is on “PHOBIA”. A creation and political slant created and broadcast by the radical, liberal left.
Straight people do not necessarily want their media to cramming homosexual “news” down their throats and certainly they do not want academia force-feeding it to their children in schools. Homosexuals would do more for their community if they would keep their private business to themselves and not force it upon others who have no interest in it and/or find that lifestyle offensive and repulsive as many do.
The leftist media and leftist politicians are the culprits on the matter and they are doing much more harm than good for these people that are part of this lifestyle. They should give it up and let the LGBT people keep their way of life amongst themselves.

Ask no DEMAND that God change the Bible and cut out the parts about homosexuality being a sin that will fix the problem.

Wow, 2 years. So, when the Christian Church and its thousands and thousands of theologians have studied this issue for 2,000 years, and concluded the opposite, we are to conclude that Vines got it right? The arrogance of the article is suffocating.
And by the way, this is an entirely different issue from slavery and racism, the former which the Christian Church by the authority of the Holy Scriptures only tolerated under certain circumstances, but was instrumental in overturning when it could so persuade the society of its time and the latter which the Church by the same authority called morally wrong from the beginning. Now, to be sure, there were and are those who called themselves Christians who don’t know these basic facts and would argue with what I just wrote. But that just puts them in the ranks of those who do not follow what the Scriptures plainly say.
The Bible calls adultery, that is, sin, anything of a sexual nature which is not kept within the bounds of marriage, which is itself defined as the bonding of one man and one woman (Genesis 2:18-25). Vines must have missed that in the course of those arduous two years.
And, other than personal stories and "studies" conducted with obvious bias, what is the evidence that this dismal, death-seeking behavior is CAUSED by what the authors call "homophobia"?

It’s not homophobia. Humans are made a certain way. Nothing can change that.
Homophobia isn’t a problem anywhere.
Homophilia is the problem. We’re teaching a generation of boys who will grow up to be men that it’s OK to be gay. It’s not OK.
It’s not. If you can’t object to homosexuality within a religious context, then religion does not exist - it’s just a group of folks who pretend.
There is nothing wrong with “hate the sin, not the sinner” as the baseline position of religion, but in a world where governments do little else but promote a gay agenda, religion cannot be allowed to exist on the bedrock principles based on Christ.
SO the headline should be more appropriately “Christianity must exorcise itself of homosexuality”
I read part of an article about “p*ssy whisperer.” It was about married women having lesbian affairs (a whisperer can talk a straight women into sex). Faggots are aiming to make homosexuality something boys will consider. They probably don’t care if they’re bisexual. They just want it to be accepted to have sex with post-pubescent boys.
Being opposed to homosexuality is not being hokophobic.
Simply opposing anything doesnt warrant you are phobic.

There are plenty of rational reasons to oppose homosexuality.
Homosexuality doesn’t frighten Christians.

Not to mention, when’s the last time we’ve heard of HIV infections? They love to talk about deaths from “gun violence” what about HIV/AIDS, and not just here in the US, but that transmitted by homosexuals around the world?
Christianity needs to exorcise itself of those who insist the Bible is not our final and full authority of God’s Word.
