That was the biggie for a long time. IIRC, the government simply turned off the spigot to the farmers lands. Haven’t checked on it in a long time.

There IS (or has been) a drought,...

Accepting any premise of leftist Socialist environmentalists without absolute confirmed proof is a mistake many make.

The rainfall patterns in CA are within the long term historical norms for California. California's large valley areas are rain shadow areas that fortunately have two major rivers that run through them, "drought" is the standard pattern for California.

The problem with CA water, is a Governmental Agency and Public "Servant" mismanagement problem.

I think Trump misspoke. There was a drought but the water shortage is man made. Influx of people but no new reservoirs plus the tree huggers would rather save the snail darter than the farmers.

I was out in San Diego and if there was a drought I sure didn’t see it. It was the greenest I’ve ever seen it and it rained half the week. The only thing that there is a drought of in California is commonsense.

California has too many people

The cutting off of the water will by design reduce growth and induce shrinkage that is desired

...the government simply turned off the spigot to the farmers lands.

You remember correctly, and as is usually the case, the farmers had already paid in advance for the water.

Agreed, we just drove through it about month ago..all that land wasting away, it’s beyond ridiculous & there are large signs everywhere from the farmers about the “fake” drought. One of the signs had a website but can’t remember the site.

Trump didn’t “misspeak”. You even said it yourself: there WAS a drought. There isn’t one now.

This might be the most productive valley on the planet, yet it is vulnerable to water availability.

We need to shift our infrastructure to capture and transport the water if necessary. The drought may be the new normal, but it is always raining somewhere. Transport and store is the the solution.

Billions are produced here, much of which is exported.

That said: the Democrats own the state.

“Politically influential rural water districts and well-off corporate farmers in and around California’s Central Valley have been pushing back against longstanding federal laws protecting endangered fish and other species”

By media standards, this was too biased - but still biased. The people/entities that are being referred to likely have no issue with the law itself, but rather that a judge can simply DECIDE BY FIAT to shutdown the water supply of the entire Central Valley...that isn’t “long standing”, that’s relatively new and needs to be stopped.

Well put, the "new normal drought" really is the standard long term rainfall pattern for CA. Proper storage conservation and the Wall at the Mexican border will make water availability almost always manageable.

My thoughts, exactly. I’ve never been a yuge fan, but he does tell the truth.

California is Detroit writ large.

Yep. I had a cousin come out from Arkansas and they drove to San Francisco from Bakersfield and back. He was raised here but hadn’t been north in over 40 years. He was shocked that the people of California have allowed it to happen.

What the state did for a dagumed river smelt in that great valley of farms and ranches was criminal. I have relatives that had to leave and are now trying to start over in Australia. Mismanaged water environmentalists, mismanaged water from on high and regular drought patterns show the California water supply is unsustainable. People need to leave or we need to dam the rivers and lighten the dumb assed environmental issues. Many of which are just stupid.

He makes these outrageous comments that have a kernel of truth.

It forces the leftist media to discuss it and gets the issue out there.

The Greenies are outright Commies, some of the dummies may not even realize it.

If a I remember correctly haven’t some of the dams, some even producing electricity, been removed under Zero’s watch? Correct me if I am wrong, my memory aint what it used to be.
