SACRAMENTO When Bernie Sanders held a rally at an outdoor stadium here the other night, more than 15,000 people turned out in a display of cheering, chanting, singing and cartwheels.
Gov. Jerry Brown, the states most prominent Democrat, was not there, but he might as well have been. Mr. Sanderss speech was replete with the kind of to-the-barricades flourishes that have long been part of Mr. Browns campaign language.
The political establishment is getting nervous, Mr. Sanders said. The corporate establishment is getting nervous. And they should be nervous. Because real change is coming.
As the Democratic presidential primary nears in California, it is easy to find in Mr. Sanders the kind of populist appeal that has long animated Mr. Brown, who ran for president in 1992 on a We the People pledge to accept no contribution over $100. But it is just as easy to find in Hillary Clinton, Mr. Sanderss opponent, the kind of political moderation and fiscal restraint that has come to define Mr. Browns tenure as governor.

Huh? Success???
Oh wait.. It’s the old gray lady.
Nuff said.
Success. Looks like they’ve changed the definition of yet another word. California is constantly in crisis over something.
The California replblican party is a real mess.
They think that candidates like Firona are the ticket.
If you look at the proposition voting this state is not as liberal as it first might seem. But first you have to give people something to vote for.

I.Q.”
-Truman Capote
Any mention of that POS Brown contains an implicit "Barf Alert". Adding one would be redundant. (Between him, Slimeswine, and Babs, this state is screwed.)
Problem is how to get rid of all the non liberal, non GBLT, non illegal, non insane voters. California doesn’t seem to represent the demographics of the rest of the country. That’s why they have Governor Moonbeam.
The words “success” and “Jerry Brown” should never occupy the same sentence! Do you realize that this 75 year old piece of $hit has NEVER held a real job? CA Attorney General. four terrms as governor, two terms as mayor of Oakland, plus a abject failure at trying to be a Jesuit Priest. A friend of mine told me that at the Catholic Monastery in Los Gatos, CA where he “studied” he was known as a lazy SOB who didn’t want to do any work. Guess that’s why he left and went into government. Oh, and he married a retired judge a few years ago who looks more like a man than he does. Google Anne Gust. He also has an equally worthless sister who ran unsuccessfully for governor as well. Old Pat Brown could have saved this state a lot of grief by always having used a condom. His two kids are pure crap!
“But first you have to give people something to vote for.”
Very true! Time was the GOP was a model of real conservatism here. But that all ended with Pete Wilson and later with Ahnold the Awful. Wilson screwed the people, Anhold just screwed his maid (and banged out a kid)!
CA is very liberal.
I no longer live there.
Its kind of like a super-giant Massachusetts.
The Republican Party is virtually extinct.
State is a lock for Hillary in November.
Yeah according to the Slimes other Rat hole States aren’t playing the Financial Shell Game with enough gusto like Moonbeam.
The San Francisco Bay area currently keeps the state afloat. The Bay Area ranks first in the nation with 387,000 high-tech jobs. The Bay Area has the highest concentration of high-tech workers of any metropolitan area in the nation, with 285.9 out of every 1,000 private-sector workers. The Bay Area has the highest average high-tech salary at $144,800. Largely a result of the high technology sector, the San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area (”Silicon Valley”) has the most millionaires and the most billionaires in the United States per capita.
First you get a dim legislature.
Grant what you report is true. The tax crazed legislature in response to its poverty stricken constituency will eventually ‘slay the golden goose.’
Absolutely, but for the moment, the state has a balanced budget for the next two years and Brown has socked away about $6 billion to prepare the state for the next economic downturn and he hopes to have $9 billion in reserve by 2019.
Of course all that could change in a flash with another recession.
“No mention of Reaganss amnesty. It was the Presidents worst mistake by his own admission.”
And it’s what blew up north Orange County. I was here to watch the show.
Sure. That's what the article is about. California becoming a Democrat-controlled state.
Somebody at the times had to stick in "and California" to make it sound like the article was about something more than Brown and the Democrats winning elections and staying in power.
What is occurring in California is worse than a physical invasion . All the US taxpayers are footing the bill for the health care , housing , education, utilities , Internet , cell phone , and disability payments that the illegals are stealing . The Mexicans and all the third world migrants are going to suck the wealth out of this country . Everything is going as Obama planned.
Oh how I would love to move back to California with my business. The only problem with California, is it’s in California. Sad to see
