With little debate, a bill to end Californias observance of daylight saving time cleared its first committee on Monday.
Assembly Bill 385 could make California the third state not to observe daylight saving time, in addition to Hawaii and Arizona. If approved by a two-thirds majority of both houses of the Legislature and signed by Gov. Jerry Brown, it would put a measure on the ballot asking voters whether or not the state should eliminate the practice.

Currently, I have a morning staff meeting at 8 AM PDT. I conduct it from my office in Idaho at 9 AM MDT. No DST means I'll be having that meeting at 10 AM MDT and having to work until 7 PM MDT to match my staff on an 8 AM to 5 PM PST schedule. While I'm compelled to be available to support my staff during those hours, other business aren't constrained that way. The CA people will have to get up an extra hour earlier to work with the other states or lose lots of business.
Dump it.
Maybe that could send a trend. DST is stupid and not needed. The libs all come out saying it saves energy blah blah blah. I say more daylight causes global warming since the sun is up longer. (same logic the libs use).
This is the only thing they have done right in 30 years, DST is stupid. Daylight in WA at 9:30, stupid.
They really aren't. It's up to the states.
nope
It’s nice that some people benefit from DST but why should everybody else have to change their clocks so YOU can mow the lawn? I get an extra hour of daylight after work by getting there and leaving early.
I’m salaried, there’s most definitely getting there and leaving early. You just have to work somewhere sane, and be sane yourself. As one of my first bosses always drilled into us: nobody’s tombstone says “I should have spent more time at work”. At my company we kick ass, we get the job done, we understand that if we’re working over time it’s because something went wrong and we don’t do that again, and that let’s us have lives and stuff.
