With little debate, a bill to end Californias observance of daylight saving time cleared its first committee on Monday.
Assembly Bill 385 could make California the third state not to observe daylight saving time, in addition to Hawaii and Arizona. If approved by a two-thirds majority of both houses of the Legislature and signed by Gov. Jerry Brown, it would put a measure on the ballot asking voters whether or not the state should eliminate the practice.

Love NOT having it (AZ), except it screws up my DVR twice a year. Never saw the point of it, as I don't work dawn to dusk...

How many voters think they need to be tricked into not knowing what time it is?

We don't need daylight savings time. Mother nature does that for us.
Don't need it at the equator either as all days are the same: 12 hours of day; 12 hours of night.
To: granite
California’s so broke they can’t even afford to save time.

My Daddy hated it and used to say that when he died, he was going to visit FDR in hell and twist his head around 360 degrees twice every year.
I always smile when I turn the clocks just thinking about Dad confronting FDR.

It’s stupid. People and businesses can simply adjust their hours accordingly.

Yeah, nothing better in the world than having the government arbitrarily tell you to change your clock periodically. It served no purpose other than to remind people who’s in charge.

When told the reason for daylight saving time, the Old Indian said, Only the Government would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it to the bottom, and have a longer blanket.
