Buchanan: Trump Picking Gingrich or Christie as VP Against Clinton-Warren Would Say to Voters ‘Let’s Get It On’

Saturday on CNN’s “Smerconish,” conservative commentator Pat Buchanan offered his thoughts on presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s potential vice-presidential picks and the upcoming Republican National Convention in Cleveland in two weeks.

Host Michael Smerconish noted the past two GOP presidents and the past GOP presidential nominees won’t be attending the convention, to which Buchanan explained that Trump’s campaign was an insurrection and that the insurrection was the political establishment of the Republican Party, which included former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA)...

Obama ruined any chances for a black on the ticket for the next few decades...

Allen West has a dark side. (No. Not a racial joke.)

If Reptillary can walk through the FBI gauntlet unfazed, then she can choose any running mate and win. It isn’t like the voters have anything to do with it, right?
She will choose Bill.

It is most likely going to be Newt. Christie has already faded into the background.

Newt is a bomb thrower like Trump and that's what's needed in a revolution.

Furthermore, he really knows the levers of power in Washington, knows how to create and use political laverage, will demolish in debate whomever Hillary selects as Veep, and he--like Trump but to a lesser degree--is very good at the earned media game.

Earned media is like money in the bank for the campaign. It is a bulwark against attacks by the enemy triumvirate--Hillary, her Veep, and the media.

For proof, just look at how Trump used earned media to vanquish 16 opponents in the primary. They spent a fortune...he spent virtually nothing by comparison.

Constitutionally Bill is not eligible but then, WTH, Barry wasn’t either. We are literally off the map here.

by blockbuster I mean a well spoken confident woman, black, hispanic

It's affirmative action thinking that got the US in the mess we're in. Choosing in such away would affirm that it's okay to prefer hillary because she's a woman. It's not okay; it's the thinking of an Idiocracy. I want the most qualified person who has the skill, experience, dedication and intelligence to give us a chance to save the US.

The delicious fringe benefit of choosing Newt would be that it would reduce Romney and his Illuminati wing of the Republican Party to total irrelevance.

Newt would be just right for Chief of Staff....wielding great power and strategy behind the scenes. As VP, I think he would not pull in the Silent Block Voters.,..,the ones who haven’t voted but will this time around.

Plus, the Feminatzis would make hay on Trump and Newt re ex-wives etc.

For the record, Smerconish USED to be a Conservative talk show host in Philadelphia. He started his Liberal turn after he turned against the Iraq War. Slowly, he turned more liberal on issue by issue. I told him to stop taking vacations because, every time he did, he came back more liberal.

He voted twice for the half breed (publicly stated so) and left the GOP in 2010. Not as big as he thinks..

"No problem, does anyone have any of those old calvary blankets........."

Should read "Cavalry", "calvary" is the place where Jesus was crucified by the Romans.

Picking Newt would say, “No politicians need apply” and it would be a brilliant selection. Newt has made the mistakes Trump has to avoid. He can steer Trump to the right side of issues; and certainly knows how Washington works. Great choice!

A Christie pick that would put him in place for Prez in 8 years?

I think that pick would lose my vote.

Allen West would be a great choice for VP. Newt Gingrich too but if Trump wants to ensure the minority vote I think West couldn’t hurt and the man is solid. I’ve met him and watched how he communicates with and treats people and he is a very humble man. I was impressed with his ability to articulate his thoughts on thefly and think on his feet and deal with leftspeak / thought and put them in their place. The man knows his bible verses too.

by blockbuster I mean a well spoken confident woman/black/Hispanic...but not another middle aged or older white guy who has had his time in the sun....

The next time you require medical refuse to allow another middle aged or older white guy to work to save your life. Switch doctors now if you are seeing another middle aged or older white guy.

You got that right. He reinforced negative stereotypes and caused a lot of division among the people in every way.

The Republic is at stake and you would not oppose Clinton because of a VP pick Trump has yet to make ... oh the patriotic irony.

Disagree. He has to pick someone who would continue his agenda, if something happened to him. If not people could be apprehensive . More white votes are great.
