Dude you keep babbling on and on about no women this and no women that. It’s a Muslim country you dingus. Are you unfamiliar with how women are viewed in Muslim countries??? Women don’t protest. Go grab a book, take off the tinfoil hat, and educate yourself.

Good point; how can anyone make the case that he isn’t one of them?

Hey Dingus, I have spent years in Muslim countries. I already told you, and you can look for yourself, women were out for the Gezi Park protests in that same city of Istanbul. They were out for the Arab Spring in Cairo, and the Green Revolution in Iran. They were conspicuously absent last night.

Sure anyone could come out, and many did - but the ones confronting the Army and seizing tanks, and cutting the heads off of captured soldiers, did not appear to be Joe six-pack or the corner shopkeeper. The AKP had some goon squads that they could call out.

I was hoping that another poster would have more detailed knowledge about their organizations, but instead I got you - with nothing but unsubstantiated opinion, and bigoted stereotypes about muslim countries. Even if you don’t know anything for real, at least you are cock sure enough of your knee-jerk opinions to insult others. Dingus.

I’ve only read a few comments this morning, but so far, I am veering towards false flag. So much odd stuff, such an incredible and short lived failure. The possibility of Gulenists is also there.

At any rate, now a lot of anti-Erdog have been flushed from the military, judges replaced, and who knows how bad it will get now.

I thought it telling (could be wrong) that 0bunghole/henchpeeps instantly made such big support for Erdog; as though they knew it wouldn’t work.

Many people here know a lot more than I do so I will read on.

See # 1236; last night it was reported these soldiers were ordered to kill any wounded ISIS members seeking refuge in Turkey...and our “president” encouraged people to support Erdogan.

Turkey deserves the misery they endure; Ataturk’s legacy is dead.

Ordinary Turks don't deserve it, only Erdog's supporters; any more than every American deserves the hell 0bunghole has created for our country. Millions of us hate it but it was forced upon us.

We will probably never know how the coup came about.

It is possible that the Obama admin colluded with Erdogan to lead on coup plotters, to draw them out for elimination, and as a pretext for seizing more power by Erdogan.

If so, it would just be one more example of Obama spiking the cannons before leaving office, denying future administrations the tools of US influence that have been built up over generations (like the total exposure of the NSA’s capabilities, and turning the Internet’s ICAAN over to international management, gutting the military, etc.). It seemed that the admin coming out in support of Erdogan was also a turning point in the coup.

I really have no indication that this was the case, but I would not expect to have indications, if it were true.

Erodogan had declared war against Pennsylvania.
Get ready.

I think Erodgan will go for full fledged Islamist constitution. And then true Islamist will take over.

He should come to Pennsylvania. It's two cities, a bunch of farms and a rain forest. I'll give him directions to the center of the forest.

The Obama administration 'will consider' extraditing cleric, Fethullah Gulen (right), who is accused of orchestrating a failed coup attempt in Turkey, but only if the county's government can prove his wrongdoing. Gulen has harshly condemned the attempted coup attempt by military officers that resulted in a night of explosions, air battles and gunfire that left more than 150 people dead. But Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government is blaming the chaos on the cleric, who lives in exile in Pennsylvania and promotes a philosophy that blends a mystical form of Islam with staunch advocacy of democracy, education, science and interfaith dialogue. Erdogan has long accused Gulen, a former ally, of trying to overthrow the government. But Washington has never found any evidence. President Barack Obama urged all sides in Turkey on Friday to support the democratically elected government in Turkey, a key NATO ally. In a statement issued after a meeting with his national security advisers Obama also urged those in Turkey to show restraint and avoid violence or bloodshed. Gulen lives in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania, on a 26-acre compound called the Golden Generation Worship and Retreat Center (inset). From dm

Erdogan will have to deal with civil unrest for awhile at least.

Civil unrest continues across #Turkey, especially in #Istanbul where open street battles are taking place

I read elsewhere that soldiers who were manning the tank/s on a bridge in Istanbul, as they surrendered to the thugs, were heard to say that they thought it was an exercise. If you want verification, I can look for it.

To me that clearly says Erdog arranged.

Plud so many other oddities - it made no sense to me last night, so many just surrendering, and the quite feeble attempt, and the huge list of judges and mil Erdog had in his pocket to purge.

I read elsewhere a notice from the thugs that it’s open now for them to rape the wives and daughters of coup supporters.

I can't prove but now strongly suspect that the "coup" was some sort of false flag/provocation. There were real plotters, but they were provoked or shaped by Erdogan forces. The coup leaders acted either totally prematurely (perhaps to pre-empt what Erdogan was up to) or with false confidence about who was on their side. Erdogan knew what they were doing and perhaps even shaped it.

Appears that Erdogan is in control and purging the hell out of both the military and the judiciary. Rumors that Erdogan may have guided or provoked a hopeless "coup" to provide a pretext for the massive pro-Islamist purge he was ready to do. THOUSANDS in the judiciary and the military have been rounded up... how many will be executed? How many will rot in horrible Turkish prisons for years or decades?

Reportedly at least 6,000 rounded up now by Erdogan, 2700+ in judiciary and thousands more in military.

I got the impression Erdogan has widespread support; they described his base of support as being primarily in the eastern part of Turkey, yet Istanbul was packed with people facing down the troops.

If you are Turkish I’ll defer to your take on the matter; as you say, many Americans don’t deserve the affliction of Otoken (yet I believe more than half do deserve it here).

Possibly, which will mean we may see some of Turkey’s educated people come here...along with some radical ones.
