Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump is leading presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton by 11 points with Independents, 38 percent to 27 percent, according to a new Morning Consult poll. But hes still down by two points in a head-to-head match up, 41 percent to 39 percent.

With all due respect to your thoughts, and other's, it is not the candidate that is so bad, although she definitely contributes to the total ill will, but the entire liberal agenda, which has finally reached critical stage, and not only turned off entire swaths of American voters, but also woke up a whole reservoir of untapped voters who usually go around Not GAF, and are now truly motivated to punch that card!
D. Trump tapped into that huge reservoir early, and it is they who will carry him through these times.
You hit the nail on the head. If the NeverTrumpers would get over their butthurt and get on board, Trump would be winning easily. He needs to get in the 90% range among Republicans. If he can do that, he is good. The good news is that these folks should be gettable.
She also has the sizable #NeverTrump voting bloc.
I still can’t believe the number of well-known people who say they can’t vote for Trump (including Jeb and, currently, Ted).
Class 1 jerks.
#NeverTrump = Hillary supporters.
Not to worry, after the democrat convention the media will claim that “independents” are split evenly.
They only like polls in their favor.
She's going to be the nominee. I'm just glad to see that pre-convention, Trump is already up 11 with Independents in this poll (and I think it's actually more).
My hope is that after the convention, a number of the nevertrump people will reevaluate their position and get on board. I think Pence will help with that.
As a big Cruz supporter I’m still hopeful he will come through on Wednesday. To do otherwise would be, IMHO, political suicide.
Polls are, and are going to be very wonky this election.
While Trump may get a smaller percentage of the registered Republican vote than Romney, in sheer numbers I think he blows away the total Republican vote Romney received because turnout will be massive this time. Add in the under the radar voter discarded by some likely voter models because they hadn’t voted in a long time, or ever and Trump wins this so long as he polls close in registered voters I think.
Yet it will, with confidence backfire come this November.
That's because they are oversampling democrats. Count on it!!!
With an eleven point lead with independents, and still down two, they HAD to spice it up with that special sauce, OVERSAMPLE DEMOCRAT©.
She ain’t in no ways tired! LOL!
We have Obama because a lot of so-called conservatives stayed home in 2008. They gave the dims the House and Senate also.
Wondering if PRyno will even use the word “endorse”....
Guessing we’ll hear “conscience” a couple times.
I see his buzzword tonight is supposed to be “unity”.
What, as opposed to the DISunity he’s been peddling for months?
She can not afford to have the black community to be reluctant. But in doing so she is faced with the BLM delema. If she goes all in with BLM and their false narrative she risks driving away the Independents that know BLM is a lie. If she continues to go with the "Blame Whitey for all the ills" again, most of the Independents that swing the election are white middle class.
The news cycle for the past month have been devastating for her.
She dodged a legal bullet with the emails but only to land in a political mess. Its going to hurt when the head of the FBI says you are "Careless" with Classified information.
The shootings by the supporters of "Aloha Snackbar" in Orlando. The BLM shootings in Dallas & Baton Rouge. With Trump jumping on the "I am the Law & Order Candidate" she can't say that, to do so will alienate the overly vocal BLM people.
To me it all goes back to the fact that she is a lousy candidate. She lost to a no name junior Senator 8 years ago. Spent 4 years as Sec of State with calamity after calamity on her watch. Followed by scandals. And struggled to beat a non Democrat Socialist. And to top it off, everyone I talk to tell me they cannot stand to hear her talk. "Nails across chalkboard" is the most common analogy.
So the more Hillary tries to be visible to keep up with Trump, the worst it gets for her.
She is her own worst enemy.
Why aren’t the Republicans touting this? I thought winning the Independents was all-important?
Oh, right. It’s only important to them if it’s THEIR candidate.
Yeah, but look at the kind of campaign rally the dums will be holding.

She will scream, “Election, what difference does an election make, I deserve to be president.”
This was predicted long ago.
For 15+ years, millions of Americans flat out stopped voting. They understood we were being force fed candidates by corrupt political parties and the election process to corrupt to the core.
Now millions see a candidate that broke through the corruption and they FINALLY see a chance to pay these rotten SOBs back.
You're correct and your observations are right on.
I'd guess, in reality, Trump is really leading by 10 to 15 points.
