Throughout the GOP primaries, online and automated surveyswhich are generally less respected within the industryindicated higher levels of Trump support than live ones. The discrepancy may have been a large reason why his Republican elite opponents refused to take the former reality stars campaign seriously before it was too late.
A similar dynamic appears to be taking shape in the general election. Instead of taking false comfort, Democratic elites are sounding the alarm about the Shy Trump Supporter Effect.
Liberal pollster Celinda Lake is warning of a secret Trump vote which she discerned from differences between automated and live surveys conducted for the general election match-up.
The pattern is in the online surveys, even if you control for demographics, Trump does three to nine points better than in telephone surveys, Lake said in an interview with the Washington Examiner. She also believes that there are many blue-collar white voters who typically dont vote in elections who might be interested in supporting Trumps unconventional Republican campaign.
Worry about this voting bloc may have played a role in Hillary Clintons decision to pick Virginia senator Tim Kaine as her running mate despite her difficulty fending off a surprisingly strong primary challenge from progressive Vermont senator Bernie Sanders. While he has some liberal stances, Kaine has consistently shown an ability to get at least some white conservatives to vote for him.

Serious question but no one knows who Kaine is. Even many political minded citizens don’t have a clue, outside Virginia, who the guy is.
He’s not a counter in the least to Trump.
White, male.
That’s it? That’s the appeal?
They should be worried.
Kaine is a white male who took $160K in gifts while he was governor and was not prosecuted. Bob MacDonald took less and was prosecuted. His real crime was being a Republican.
Kaine is also a complete slob who looks awful on the trail, especially when compared to the professional, polished, presidential appearance of Mike Pence.
And don’t get me started on his voting record.
If Kaine becomes VEEP, then Terry MacAuiliffe (AKA The Ultimate Clinton Insider) gets to appoint himself to the Senate when he gets term-limited out of the Virginia Governorship, and he doesn’t have to go out and get a real job.
At the end of the day, I think it is nothing more than this.
You're about to be steamrolled by the silent majority Byatch!
Yup, an extra whitey on the ticket. Good move there Hillary.
The ‘Shy Tory’ vote in the UK has long been recognised as a genuine concept. It was seen most vividly in John Major’s unexpected 1992 General Election victory, and with David Cameron winning an unexpected majority in 2015.
If people think they will be judged and insulted by pollsters (or even neighbors in some areas) for voting Trump, then they will keep quiet, but they will still vote, with perhaps even a greater determination, for Trump in November.
The secret ballot will throw up a few surprises this year, I’m sure.
So, Hillary Rotten Criminal is trying to scoop up the Sore Cruzermen, Trump is getting the Reagan Democrats, and the Bernouts go for the Green.
Trump wins.
The “secret Trump vote” may not be all that secret. Whatever else one may say of the Democrats, they have unusually sensitive feel for the way the vote may be going, and like a canary in a coal mine, are often the first indication that disaster may be about to occur.
Of course, “disaster”, in many instances and especially so in this case, is by no means a universal condition. Herself says The Donald threatens “America”, but the vision of America that Herself sees in no way resembles the Norman Rockwell version, and certainly does not reflect truth, justice, or even mercy.
The Oval Office is no place to work out your personal demons and internal conflicts. The Peter Principle has long been at work for Herself, as long ago she had been promoted beyond the level of her competence, which was sometime around when she thought she should no longer “stay at home and bake cookies”.
This will surely be offset by the secret Hillary vote/s /msm
He is something of an ideologue.
I was aware of him and some of his statements when he was in office up here in the People’s Republic of Maryland.
He’s Fat Bottomed Girl’s running mate because she thinks like he does.
FReegards, ‘Pod.
The article makes clear the left’s control over the nation’s culture, media, and government. Why would anyone be afraid to declare their support for Trump? My guess is they fear being labeled unpopular, uncool, or worse. However, methinks the left has far less sway in the population than many think. Perhaps we will finally see the real sides drawn now that the people have a clear contrast in the two candidates.
“Do not rest on your laurels Republicans and Conservatives!
Get out and vote, get others to vote and beat Hillary by
a “surprising” landslide...please!!!”

What I’m worried about is hillary’s secret dead people vote. There is an infinite number of them available.
Of course there is a secret Trump vote. Who, in this day of threatened dictatorship out of Washington, is going to reveal that to some polling method when they do not know who they are talking to. Many people feel that they or their families will be punished somehow if they reveal that they do not like what has happened to this country and will vote against those responsible for it. Many feel scared and threatened by what is going to happen to them, to their ability to protect themselves against a hostile government and, to actually be able to provide basic survival for their families. They believe they know who the greatest enemy is and will vote to change things.
