RNC Chairman Priebus 'Apoplectic' Over Trump's Refusal to Endorse Ryan
NBC News ^ | Aug 3 2016, 12:22 am ET | Katy Tur

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus is "apoplectic" over Donald Trump's refusal to back House Speaker Paul Ryan or Sen. John McCain, a top Republican source said.

Priebus called several Trump staffers, including campaign manager Paul Manafort, to express his "extreme displeasure" with Trump's comments, the source with knowledge of the conversations told NBC News.

Trump, in an interview with The Washington Post published Tuesday, said of Ryan "I'm not quite there yet" — echoing language used by Ryan when he was reluctant to endorse Trump in May. Ryan eventually endorsed the GOP nominee. A spokesperson fro Ryan said Tuesday neither Ryan nor anyone on his team sought an endorsement from Trump.

The friendship between Priebus and Ryan goes back decades. Priebus was the GOP chairman for Ryan's congressional district before he was the state party chair. Ryan credited Priebus with the Republican takeover of Wisconsin in 2010.

There was talk Tuesday that key Republicans could come out against Trump. If Trump falls further in the polls, the party could come up with a backup plan to protect downballot races, the source said. "We have to figure out how to tread water," the source said.

Trump refuses to play the games. That is why the common folks like him so much.

No, they have just combined the two stories now. More ammo for them.

I’m really sorry now I supported Meg when I lived in CA.

Although, I didn’t have many options.

Why should Priebus be concerned? This is a primary; i.e., between two republicans. If it was a general election then there should be great cause for concern. How about concern for the pubs against Donald Trump?

I think Mr. Trump and I are much alike regarding Paul Ryan; we would endorse him if we could use him on the lawn.

Ryan endorsed (condescendingly and half-heartedly) Mr Trump only AFTER it was set in stone that Trump was going to win the nomination. Ryan on the other hand has not yet won his race. Go Nehlen!

Even if Ryan wins, that does not mean that House Republicans must retain him as Speaker. We should have a Speaker who will enthusiastically support Trump’s agenda.

-- Was Priebus "apoplectic" when Ryan was being a RINO a$$wipe? --

The word "apoplectic" is Katy Tur's choice. Katy Tur is a known liar. My reaction to the article? It's pure fiction, just like the articles that claim Trump asked Russia to hack the US for state secrets, or Trump insulted anybody in the Khan family. Pure fiction, made up.

Here’s why the rinos are in the fix they’re in: they’re cowards.

The GOP-E types have shot their wad against Trump. Trump basically comes back against those who pull the “I’m not sure I. An support THIS nominee” and worse. They raised a stink when he went after Susana of New Mexico, but not she she attacked him first, as well.

Best of all, Trump still has bullets in the gun. How would Priebus feel when Trump holds a rally for Nehman in the parking lot of the shuttered GM plant in Janesville and 30,000 people show up?

Does Priebus get this worked up over attacks on incumbent Husslkamp in Kansas?

Preibus apparently was not apoplectic when Ryan jawboned at the convention and did not specifically endorse Trump.

Hey Reince, we are going to win this with you or without you—your choice.

Pure rubbish.

A worthless white son of Dorkbama the Muslim eunoch.

Pond scum.

On his best days.

“We’ll see how big this story blows up. Six days until the voting. “

Trump will endorse Ryan. Just waiting for the right news cycle to do it. Maybe Friday night at 7pm.

My vote for Trump this November could very well be the last I ever cast for a Republican.

Ryan has since endorsed Trump. Trump sounds like a sore winner.

Ryan was criticizing Trump earlier this week. This has nothing to do with being a sore winner and is well-earned political payback. Trump is 100% correct in this matter.

Ryan may have endorsed Trump BUT every chance he gets he RUNS to the microphone to denounce Trumps statements at EVERY turn it is quite clear Ryan doesn’t TRULY endorse Trump!!!
