This is one thing that Rush has been correct on in this election year.
I’ve always been more of a college football fan myself. I don’t often watch pro unless it’s a playoff game involving a team that I like, or the Super Bowl. So, I don’t know much about this guy, but it appears to me that this country has been very good to him. I suspect people who watch pro football are at least nominally more prone to patriotism than average. I also suspect people who watch pro football are very annoyed with political grandstanding. He’s going to get a “shut up and play” reaction, that is if he isn’t cut from the team.
Your last sentence describes the typical sports wacko mentality perfectly.

If I remember correctly.....the NFL would NOT even allow Limbaugh to buy a team a few years ago..
When we moved to E. TN six year ago, little did we know what was in store for us regarding sports. Football. Basketball. “The Vols.” It’s mentioned in the pulpit.
The first time we visited Home Depot here we needed to find a floor worker to get some info. Employees wear orange. Everybody was wearing orange (it was a weekend). Freaky and funny.
Depends how this plays out.
These players need to grab a beer, sit down and watch the original version of Rollerball to gain some perspective on the purpose of professional sports.

I am around Columbia, SC and if one isn’t a devout follower of the overhyped chicken like me, people give strange looks.
College and pro ball could go away today and I wouldn’t lose a moment’s sleep.
The spouse has gotten hooked on sports. As long as I don’t have to go a waste of time ballgame, it doesn’t bother me.
I’m personally sick of pro and college sports, but the general population doesn’t seem to feel that way, despite a lot of reasons to, like Lebron and other NBAers with “Hands Up Don’t Shoot” tee shirts.
Something like this won’t really alienate fans from the sport.
MLB alienated many fans not for these types of antics, but for a player strike.
Good idea. I wonder if there’s an option in “display settings” on newer TVs that allows for the temporary elimination of color from the screen?

In so many words said if this keeps up fans should (or would) boycott both NFL and there sponsors
I enjoy it, but if the NFL closed up shop tomorrow and never played another game it wouldn’t bother me in the least.
Actually, Rush is correct. It will take time, but people will quietly start looking to other entertainment.
