Smith & Wesson seen profiting from gun boom
CNBC ^

Posted on 09/01/2016 4:39:46 AM PDT by Red in Blue PA

Amid talks of tighter gun control and a series of tragic shootings, a pickup in demand for firearms is expected to drive double-digit gains in both sales and profits for Smith & Wesson's fiscal first quarter.

After seeing slower demand in May, "The past two months have seen a dramatic surge in U.S. firearms sales, particularly in rifles," Wunderlich Securities analyst Rommel Dionisio said in a research note.

Adjusted gun background checks, frequently used as a proxy for retail gun sales, soared approximately 28 percent in July, to just over 1.21 million. The adjusted figures released by National Shooting Sports Foundation also show June and July totals were records for those months.

"The gun industry has not had a chance to catch its breath amid the current buying frenzy," C.L. King & Associates analyst Scott Stember wrote in a report this week. "As seen in prior cycles, one could even argue that the severity of the pullback will worsen if the current surge continues."

I had longer waits for Ruger’s SR1911 when it first came out. I had calls into two places and both called me within a week of each other. I ended up buying both! I also bought their Commander size SR1911 when I happened in a store that had one loose.....

The difference between liberals and conservatives:

Liberals want to see them fail and go bankrupt.

Conservatives want to see them become filthy rich and wildly successful.

My thought, as well.

More guns are selling and the gun makers are profiting.

Who would have thought?!??!

Big Media are leftists; this is a twofer:

Guns are evil.

Profits are evil.

So ... profitable gun manufacturers are doubly evil.

I am shocked that a weapons manufacturer would be able to profit during a gun boom. Shocked.

So how do you explain that this boom is happening under Obama?

Setting aside the childish play on words (”gun boom”), of COURSE S&W is profiting! Who did you expect to benefit from vastly increased sales of firearms if not manufacturers of firearms??? PETA? Goodyear? The Clinton Foundation?

The simplest logic seems to be beyond the grasp of liberals.

All my fault, I suspect

Just bought an M&P Shield - kept waiting for the price gouging to end - finally broke down and got one for $430.00

Not at the price I was quoted though. They are available here too, but the prices are a few hundred above what I will eventually pay.

Gun sales are way up, right? And the Democrats are in charge, right? So how do you explain that?

What the heck does that have to do with my comment?

Nothing at all, of course.

Big Media leftists like to get outraged at corporate profits, and they like to get outraged at guns.

So this story gives them both in one.

As to your irrelevant question, I think the boom in gun sales under the anti-gun demonicRAT regime more or less explains itself.

One could just as well argue (more convincingly in fact) that liberalism is good for gun sales. More meth labs, more drug dealers and turf wars. More LEO necessary. More family breakdown, less morality, more crime. More handguns needed for people to protect themselves from crazies, maybe eventual civil war. All good for gun sales. If so maybe you should vote liberal.
