A Mexican lawmaker is pushing legislation that would let Mexico's government retaliate against a possible Donald Trump presidency, Reuters reported Friday.
The legislation is designed to counter any attempt from the U.S. government to make Mexico pay for a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, and gives the Mexican Senate power to disavow international treaties if Mexican national and business interests are threatened by another state.
"In cases where the property/assets of [our] fellow citizens or companies are affected by a foreign government, as Donald Trump has threatened, the Mexican government should proportionally expropriate assets and properties of foreigners from that country on our territory," the preliminary summary of the proposal said.

Stupid corrupt Mexicans. They can’t even deliver safe drinking water.
Do we need to send the Marines to the Halls of Montezuma again?
On the other hand, if the US were set back an equal number of years, we would look extraordinarily healthy.
Way to scare off international investors, Milton Friedman.
You make a very good point. :)
Mexico jumped the shark, they just dont know it yet
Post of the day for me :}
Exactly.
We also kicked their asses at Churubusco, and can do it again if necessary.
I would think a 50% to 75% ‘international administration fee’ would be better. Sticks the financial knife in deeper and twists much harder.
Mexico has harsh laws about illegal immigration.
So how is it possible that so many non-Mexicans are crossing our border?
Either (a) Mexico has no clue what goes on near their border with the U.S., which is highly unlikely. Or (b) Mexico knows exactly who and what goes on at the border.
Both options are rude and unneighborly, to say the least.
Sounds like someone in Mexico is scared.
It won’t work, there are more ways than one to make Mexico pay for the wall.
Trump has hinted at some ideas, and that may work. I’ve been telling people for 20 eyars how to stop illegl immigration, al I have to do is add one line and it gets the wall paid for too..
Stop all foreign aid to Mexico and all countries south.
Stop tourist traffic into Mexico, on a temporary basis, Americans are not safe south of the border.
Beef up border patrol.
Implement a 25% fee on all wire transfers of money going into Mexico.
Now you have their attention, nothing gets politicians to listen like money...or lack of it..
Tell Mexico to stop illegal immigration, shut down the drug cartels and pay for the wall.
Watch it happen in record time. Mexico might even volunteer to build the wall themselves.
I give it 6 months and you wouldn’t be able to sneak a mouse across the border, drug cartels would be history in maybe a year, and the wall would be built and paid for in a year. OK Maybe 2 years, that’s a lot of wall..
I’m not against it in principle, but here’s the rub.
Change it to 50 to 75%, and folks will end sending money.
We get nothing.
At 25%, we have an income stream to pay for the wall.
“”In cases where the property/assets of [our] fellow citizens or companies are affected by a foreign government, as Donald Trump has threatened, the Mexican government should proportionally expropriate assets and properties of foreigners from that country on our territory,” the preliminary summary of the proposal said.”
Ha! In that case Trump would have to do nothing at all to discourage American firms from relocating their plants to Mexico, this genius will have Mexico doing it.
As well as remittances—Mexico’s largest source of income, even more than Pemex—the failed third world state of Mexico depends on American tourism as well, although the narco-terrorist cartel beheadings have dampened holiday spirits, and local economies depend on income from ex-patriots (spelling intentional).
Smart ex-pats are on notice that Mexico might freeze gringo bank accounts. American businesses like Carrier that took Hoosier jobs with them south of the border? Rots of ruck buddies!
Otherwise US: Mexico is comparable to an heiress with a solid pre-nup being threatened by her spendthrift, abusive, criminal hound of a husband: all he has to offer is his own sweet self.
Personally, I don’t like artichokes, make my own bed, do my own yardwork, hired an American roofing crew and don’t own a swimming pool.
Trump will set up a system, maybe using temporary agri-worker permits with computer chips (like military scrip, changed often) so that we admit just enough farm workers to harvest our crops, as Eisenhower did.
They can expect to be scanned regularly. Harvest over? See you next year!
They produce a permit that scans green or find themselves on a school bus for points south. No more jetting these trespassers home.
La Raza doesn’t like it? They don’t run this country—yet. The Race can go home and pound sand. Do your worst, Cousin Eddie to the south.
Mexico bans foreigners from buying property in their country.
If Trump wins, maybe the Mexicans will employ the “Mouse that Roared” option.
“Mexico has never been a friend of this country, and will not hesitate to do anything to harm us. Theyve been literally outsourcing their poverty to this country, with the collaboration of political and business interests here, and the Mexicans who are swarming over the border provide Mexico with political leverage in the US, and also a conduit for $billions in remittances.”
Well said and worth repeating often.
THIS is exactly what Trump talks about when he says our so-called leaders have been cowards when dealing with Mexico. Mexico pisses on everyone else but demands the USA gives them anything they want.
Mexico has a sealed southern border. Mexico jail illegal aliens. Yet, the demand we don’t do the same to their invading armies.
“At 25%, we have an income stream to pay for the wall.”
The tax on remittances doesn’t have to be nearly that high, it would most likely be a tenth of that. The current volume is $25 billion a year. I’ve heard that there is also something like $8 billion in seized cartel money that can be used.
