How the Electoral College favors Democrats and why Republicans must change it [rehash]

Let me break it down by state and electoral votes.

The Democrat will almost always win the following states: California, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Those states are worth 183 electoral votes. Thus, the Democrat likely enters the 2016 election with a base of 242 electoral votes.

This electoral vote allocation leaves the Democrat just 28 electoral votes from The White House, while the Republican needs an additional 100 electoral votes to win. There are only 126 electoral votes left among the 11 battleground states.

Our biggest hurdle is the number of people seeking handouts is increasing at a remarkable pace.
The responsible producers, who are NOT a load on the system, are becoming a smaller percentage of the population.

Popular Vote is a loser for a Republic.

It wasn’t that long ago that the reverse was true, that it was the Democrats considered to be at a disadvantage. The GOP blurred the lines, erasing the differences and lost their edge.

A number of those states mentioned may go to Trump.

Trump has the ability to dent into those traditionally Democrat states.

The Emerson poll of Rhode Island is a great example.

They will not always win wisconsin. They have not always.

To say always on a state like Wisconsin is nuts.

And this is why Trump must decentralize the federal government.

Too many Virginians work in DC. Most of the federal workers aren’t qualified to work in the public sector (at least not for the same pay). A majority vote for the hand that feeds them which is to say Big Government.

That gives VA and to a lesser extent MD a solid block of Rat voters. Spread that disease to other parts of the country like CA and IL that are already out of reach of the Republican party.

That would put government closer to the people and put VA more in play for Republicans.

If they move to a popular vote, then rural areas and "flyover country" will be ignored.

The election will be won or lost in the large urban centers with the big media markets.

In what way is that an advantage to the Republicans?

The headline is deceptive. Writer isn't talking about scrapping the Electoral College, but about changing the electoral math by winning over some traditionally Democrat states.

Just a few years back, Democrats were complaining that the math was rigged against them. Then Virginia, Colorado, and Nevada tipped Democrat, and that was enough to put the shoe on the other foot.

People should not be allowed to vote when they are on welfare.

Eliminate winner take all states and do proportional awards (i.e.Nebraska and Maine. Award 1 EV to the winner of each Congressional district. Award a states 2 Senate EV's to the popular vote winner of that state.

California would go 38-42 Democrat balance to Republican's

In 2000 it seemed to favor Republicans.

Suggestions that it might be modified produced wailing and gnashing of teeth.

It’s not perfect.

Nothing is.

Ever.

How many of those "sure fire" democrat States went for Reagan the first time he ran?

The problem isn't the electoral college, it's the GOPe preferring to do without control of the Presidency and even accept minority status in the House and Senate rather than go against the money men behind the Republican party.

Trump can change it by winning over a larger than normal share of the black vote. Get 20% of the black vote and he wins in a landslide.

“System is in fact rigged.”

The Electoral College is not rigged, as it is working as the Framers intended, that is to give more power to the people in smaller states.

Under the Electotal College, a person’s vote in Wyoming is more powerful than a person’s vote in California.

If the Democrats have an advantage in the Electoral College, it is only the fault of the Republicans as the Republicans have become moderate thereby disenfranchising conservatives is key former Swing States.

Don’t Blame our Founding Fathers for the Failure of the Republican Party.

With one or two exceptions...if you get a government check you vote Rat.A far bigger percentage of Americans get a government check today than was the case 8 years ago.Give the 30 million wetbacks in the country Green Cards and the percentage will skyrocket further....overnight.
