Colt 380 Mustang

Posted on 09/25/2016 6:42:07 AM PDT by doghorse

Charlotte victims gun was either in condition zero or condition one. Both of these conditions mean he was ready to rock and roll. The only difference between 0 and 1 is 0 means he already had the safety off. Unbelievable the media has not pointed out the alleged firearm with cocked and ready to go.

I’ve not heard of this Condition 0 with the safety thing before.

How do non-safety mechanism equipped pistols fall into this condition ?

Not a cheap pistol. I have a 45 Defender and a 45 New Agent, but any gun in that species or lower is usually a $500 or higher priced gun.

“Don’t do it! Don’t do it!” I presume wifey did not want him to read verses from his Koran to the officers.

Kieth Scott should not be called the “Charlotte Victim”.

I don’t assume the condition of the gun in the photo is necessarily the condition of the gun when the dude was carrying it. It seems logical to me that when the cops found the gun they cleared it to make it safe. There’s a good chance they dropped the mag and racked the slide to remove the round from the chamber. I don’t think the photo tells us anything about how the guy carried it.

Well, it has already been stated by some that it didn't matter if this felon had a gun or not. Huh?😡

I saw that in the picture also.

I would never expect a liberal newspaper to report this.

Although to be 100% fair I could not tell if the chamber was loaded or not. Why cock the pistol if the chamber is not loaded? It makes it a bit easier to rack the slide to load a round, the shooter does not have to overcome the spring force to cock the hammer.

Condition 0 – A round is in the chamber, hammer is cocked, and the safety is off.

Condition 1 – Also known as “cocked and locked,” means a round is in the chamber, the hammer is cocked, and the manual thumb safety on the side of the frame is applied.

Condition 2 – A round is in the chamber and the hammer is down.

Condition 3 – The chamber is empty and hammer is down with a charged magazine in the gun.

Condition 4 – The chamber is empty, hammer is down and no magazine is in the gun.

If they had done that the cops would’ve put an ink pen or a chamber flag into the open action to indicate its “clear” status to other investigators. if the action is closed, that’s likely how they found it.

Ussually carried with round chambered and safety on. Flick of the thumb and ready to go. Not a Saturday night special. Top of the line pocket carry pistol. Damn sure I’d shoot the guy if I were in similar circumstances regardless of what his screeching wife was saying.

I guess “hands up don’t shoot” is what the cops response is now expected to be.

The picture of the gun was a crime picture. Why would they take a picture of the gun after an officer had handled it. That’s the way the gun looked when the officer kicked it aside

Why would the media report that? After all they failed to mention that the “victim’s” previous arrest was for shooting at a cop in Houston.

The lazy drive by media doesn’t know the difference and doesn’t care. All they see is an evil “gun”.

I’m typically a condition 2 guy. Works well with the SIG 229 I usually carry.

“... he was ready to rock and roll.”

You shouldn’t use that term...you’ll confuse the media.

LOL.

(P.S. - WE know what you mean.)

Just google, “conditions of carrying a semi auto handgun” and you’ll get a bunch of references.

Forty five years go the Denver post had an anti gun article which stated any gun less than $50.00 was a “Saturday Night Special” and should be banned.(Illustrated with a Ruger .22 auto pistol).

That would be the equivalent of $310.00 today.
