CSPAN had that raw feed, as they were broadcasting for quite some time before the debate began. And yes, definitely just a few minutes before it began he called out to get his earpiece fixed. They eventually cut the sound, but you could clearly hear and see the early exchange.
No Holt is literally a RINO. That way he can pass himself off as Republican and still vote for the Democrat to appear unbiased. .

I’m reading that the earpiece was for the commission’s debate producer (only) to speak to the moderator, but not the news producer as in primaries.

Yep. It was obvious to me that Hillary was given the questions well in advance, for this debate, as well as for that stupid Commander in Chief Forum a couple of weeks ago.
Her answers were way too slick, and rolled off her tongue instantly, without a second’s pause to gather her thoughts.
The only times last night that she didn’t sound like an actor spouting well-rehearsed lines is when Trump forced her to go off script... THEN she had to grasp for thoughts, and often missed them.
But as soon as Holt got things back on the prepared track, she was back to spouting boilerplate propaganda.

Folks are tuning out major media players, and after last night, the producer of the program will get lower ratings.

You can find stories online saying that earpieces were banned for moderators and stories saying they weren’t banned. So it’s not entirely clear if they were banned or not.
