The decline in popularity of the NFL is over-determined. I stopped watching a while ago due to player thuggery combined with the fact that I no longer have the patience to spend 3 1/2 hours to watch 13 minutes of play. For others it was bad reffing. For still others it’s the politicization of something that should be a non-political escape from the problems of the day.
Good. I mostly have no use for the NFL and they keep getting worse.

Bread and circuses for the masses. Intended to keep you distracted from the fact that you are losing your Country to the socialists. Just like at the Roman Coliseum, you are watching the gladiators, the bigger the better, and now with a big Black Lives Matter edge to it, do battle. Well, we can fight too, we can fight the PC idiots that have now infiltrated the NFL, and other sports venues, ruining it for everyone. It’s time to make a stand if the ultimate goal is to not only save our Country, but to save our sports culture from the rot within.

The NFL owners are accidental royalty. They have billions of dollars they haven't earned and don't deserve. Their "fans" are consuming a product (televised football games) which has only a casual relationship to the underlying game, which because of zoom lenses and instant replay makes thuggery the main attraction.
The thug class hates America, in which, by the way, the NFL owner class is not far behind.
Any organized ownership action runs the risk of exposing the truth about the players, and making those undeserved billions (a lot of which are taxpayer dollars, one way or another) go "poof". Their best bet is to hunker down, hide behind "free speech" and their love of "the Constitution", and hope it blows over.
Which it won't.
I haven't watched a down this year and don't plan to.
