Republican Sen. Mark Kirk's campaign fired back at Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Friday morning after the Manhattan billionaire said Kirk was "not doing so well" in the Illinois Senate race.

Kirk's campaign manager, Kevin Artl, told Business Insider in a statement that the Illinois Republican was far outperforming Trump in the state.

"The simple fact is that the Illinois Senate race is a statistical tie and Sen. Kirk is outperforming Donald Trump by a net of 13 points," he said.

Donald is signaling that he’s going to Washington to kick rear and take names.

Illinois conservatives have no Choice this election. We can either vote for the male liberal or the female liberal. I will probably just leave the senate part of my ballot unmarked.

Be assured that Duckworth’s folks aren’t being so prissy.

“You concern trolls are boring these days,”

So just saying the obvious makes you a concern troll? Maybe you ought to pack that “concern troll” label away, it’s getting real boring and childish.

And it’s fact that Trump is an idiot to be wasting oxygen with this kind of crap this late in the game and maybe you are an idiot for defending him. Trump has an election to win and he’s acting like it’s a game; taking shots at GOP, late night Twitter rants, blowing off debate prep. etc..

Not to mention the fact that if he loses, he is setting himself up to be the most ridiculed candidate in history. And don’t be surprised if most of his base turns on him and runs him out politics.

And maybe you are being foolish for assuming that no good comes out of Donald being Donald. We have one very improbably campaign standing as counter-evidence. Maybe Donald senses something you don’t? Maybe Donald is going to get serious with the whole GOP crew, fish or cut bait?

You concern trolls

What the Hell is a concern troll anyway? And if these folks are trolls, why not report them? Get real, please.

None of that matters unless he wins his election first ...

Part of winning it is looking serious. There are a lot of righty couches gaining butt marks in November because the candidates never looked like they cared about the big picture.

Wow, a sitting senator in a virtual tie with his opponent and his campaign thinks he is doing well? Doesn’t sound like it to me.

Why even get involved in that? Where’s the damn discipline?!?! Why isn’t Trump pounding Hillary and O for 12 hours a day?

And I'd even say that he doesn't need to be negative at all.

At this point, all he needs to do is lay out his programs for the economy; law and order; foreign policy; and immigration. On each of those points, he has winning plans, and staying in the mud only makes it harder for him to break away cleanly. That's why they keep dragging him into the slop, and he can't seem to stay away. It's like an alcoholic with the phenomenon of craving.

Donald has to whip a very reluctant GOP into line if he expects to git-r-done in Washington. I am not sure this is such a huge negative.

Not a smart move by Trump. Followed by a bad move from Kirk.

As bad a Kirk is he is still better that any Dem. Yes he may lose but we really don’t need to help do so. I hope he wins. I don’t expect him to.

Illinois has about as much of a chance as California for ever seeing a republican senator again.

Last time I voted for Alex Giannoulias over Nancy Boy Kirk. He was a somewhat upright gangster/bankster and clearly superior to Nancy Boy. I cannot bring myself to vote for a phony like Tammy Quack Quack or like Nancy Boy. Even the third party candidates are unappealing. What a gruesome Senate election!

It’s not how long it takes the candidate to say something that matters.

It’s the fact of cuing up a non-helpful story line for the media to cover, and for setting up a useless personal exchange that can eat up media time for days. The media would like nothing better than to spend time and column space to cover a Kirk-Trump dust-up that will do absolutely zero for Trump’s numbers in Florida, Colorado, etc.

I badly want Trump to win. I’ve sent him money. Because it’s game over for our country if the Left gets to own the courts and immigration policy for generations, which is what a Hillary win brings. Which is why Trump’s lack of discipline is so aggravating. (and Kirk is small potatoes compared to non-preparation for a general election debate)
