Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson stands by Trump in debate

Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson stuck by Donald Trump in a debate Friday without actually saying the presidential candidate's name.

Referring to Trump as "our Republican nominee," Johnson said he supports him on a number of issues, including securing the border and fighting the Islamic State terrorist group, but that he's also "not going to defend the indefensible."

Johnson's Democratic opponent, former Sen. Russ Feingold, challenged Johnson to renounce Trump, who's been battered by accusations of sexual misbehavior. Trump has denied the allegations.

Johnson will lose.

Too much of a coward to actually stand up for the next President Of The United States.

What a snake, like Ryan.

> who’s been battered by accusations of sexual misbehavior.

Mr and Mrs Clinton are both unindicted felons and Mr Clinton is a sex offender and was impeached perjurer, and she ran a private email server to keep her official correspondence off the record, and she deliberately destroyed federal records, and she deliberately mishandled classified intelligence, and they together ran a bribery ring using their fraudulent foundations as a money laundering vehicle, and there are these 35 year old allegations of corruption and murder and drug running and extortion that just won’t go away, and she led the attack on her husband’s actual rape victims (one of whom settled out of court because her story was totally made up and all), and her vision for her first term is to disarm Americans, start a war with Russia, let the third world totally overrun the USA by giving 30 million illegal immigrants US citizenship and throwing open the border, destroy the first amendment, and and and and.

But yeah, like, the press repeated a made-up story about Trump that came from a DNC staffer who never met him so, like, whatever dude. That’s so battered, wow man where’s there’s smoke there’s fire this guy is dogged by scandal, couldn’t have someone like that in charge.

We’re voting against Russ. Doesn’t matter what Johnson hasn’t done. Anyone but Feingold.

Ron Johnson, the Republican Senator, was written off early during the race, but is now only a few points behind.

Roughly, taking the polls at face value, Trump is down 7 in Wisconsin, with that many votes going to Gary Johnson. In theory, Ron Johnson can win by COMBINING the anti-socialist vote. In reality, Trump has to bounce back in this state, to at least make it close.

I think Trump can win Wisconsin. First, I don’t trust the polls and, second, taking the polls at face value, this race has been back and forth several times this year.

If Trump does well in the next debate, this race will turn very competitive. The media is already hinting that the polls will tighten up.

Obviously, we absolutely have to win AZ, GA, NC, OH and FL; and, it looks like we have IA in the bag. We’re close or ahead in the polls in every one of these states, and there’s other evidence that is favorable (e.g., early voting). Assuming we win these states, I put WI as option #3, with option #1 being PA, and #2 being CO plus ME-2, and #4 being NV + NH.

Voter registration is now closed in NC and PA, so if you live in NC or PA and aren’t registered, quick move to: Maine-2nd Congressional District (Oct. 18), Nevada (Oct. 18), Wisconsin (Oct. 19), New Hampshire (Oct. 29), or Colorado (Oct. 31) and register.

Analyze your local polls.

What you need to know is the Democrat, Republican and Independent registration in your state. That is publicly available information.

Then you need to find the polls data and see if it lines up with the state registration.

Most polls have been heavily over-sampling Democrats.

Adjust as needed... :-)

Ron Johnson was an early defector of the Tea Party movement.

There ARE indeed ways to un-skew or re-skew polls.

Almost all polls, nowadays, weight their samples by demographics. In many of them, they impose a 2012 turnout model (i.e., the demographics of the prior election) onto their sample.

In truth, turnout is big uncertainty from one to another election. We know that Trump has the enthusiasm. He specifically appeals to people who haven’t voted in the past. The other side is specifically attempting to depress turnout by saying the election is over. Yet, many of the polls show the Democrats to have a double digit lead in the electorate, when 6 or 7 points has been the recent norm, and when Trump advantage in enthusiasm can shift party affiliation in the Republican’s favor.

Bottom line the polls can easily be biased by 2 or 3 points, and perhaps by even more. If Trump is down by 2 or 3 points in the polls on the day before the election, I’ll feel pretty good about winning. If he’s down by 5 or 6, I’m still thinking he has a chance. If he’s tied or ahead, I starting the party, because I have already early-voted.

Ron Johnson was an early defector of the Tea Party movement.

Please elaborate. How exactly did he defect?

What a snake, like Ryan.

Ron Johnson has been a solid conservative in the Senate and on the right side of important issues. He is nothing like Paul Ryan.

I listened to most of the debate and Johnson had genuine conservative positions throughout. Feingold was much slicker and lied a lot.

You must know a different Ron Johnson. I live in his district. He rode to Washington on Tea Party coattails and quickly turned. He voted wrong on every issue. He has backed Ryan on every issue. Go look it up! Now that he is up for re-election, he finally found his spine. Bull$h!t

That being said, I will still vote straight R. I want to give President Trump a republican house and senate. Cant wait to see him whip them into shape!!

He may loose anyway but he can read enthusiasm surveys and wants in on the tidal wave.

Got a fund raising letter from Johnson yesterday. Paul Ryan’s name on envelope and letter inside. Fodder for my Buck Stove.

His district? He doesn't have a district. He represents the State of Wisconsin. You do understand Ryan is in the House and Johnson is in the Senate, right?

He voted wrong on every issue. He has backed Ryan on every issue. Go look it up!

Can you name a few issues where he voted wrong?

Why am I supposed to "look it up"? I'm not the one making unsubstantiated negative claims. You throw out a bunch of BS and can't provide any details to back it up.

They are politically tone deaf. I don’t think they understand they are also responsible for the rise of Donald Trump. People are tired of the uniparty. Communist or communist-lite. What a choice!

Unfortunately, I am a victim of the Obama economy, the little bit I can contribute goes directly to Trump and FreeRepublic!

Each of the two Senators represents the entire state. You need to find an 8th grade civics book and do some remedial studies.
