Donald Trump’s Washington is shaping up to look a lot like a boardroom scene from “The Apprentice.”

The GOP nominee on Tuesday told supporters here that he plans to tell the entrenched guard of Congress “you’re fired,” continuing his ethics reform push by advocating for term limits on members of Congress that would further “drain the swamp” in Washington, D.C. […]

Without Congress, it would take 2/3rds of the states to ratify...That is possible....

Yes, it is possible, but it has never actually been done before. That alone makes it a long shot.

The Constitution provides that an amendment may be proposed either by the Congress with a two-thirds majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate or by a constitutional convention called for by two-thirds of the State legislatures. Rather than term limits I’d rather see the 17th Amendment repealed. The House was meant to be the people’s representative, the Senate was meant to be the states.’

Bingo! It wouldn't be the end of all our problems, but that would be a great start. As it is now, the House represents fly-over country and the Senate represents the inner cities.

Beside term limits, I’m wondering why these congress critters can’t live and stay in their districts, and conduct their business over telephones and the internet. The swamp will never be drained as long as they are allowed to go to DC and party and conspire. It’s the 21st century for crying out loud.
