Washington (CNN)A plane carrying Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence skidded off a runway at New York's LaGuardia Airport Thursday night during landing.

LaGuarda is a terrible airport. 3rd world as Trump would say. It’s a nasty rainy night here in the NY. LGA has a short runway and it is not at all unusual for something like this to happen, especially if the pilot is not overly familiar with the airport.

I know what you mean. I once had to take the 22 bus to Harlem to catch the subway to get downtown. The previous time I took a shuttle bus from LGA to Penn Station. The row of seats in front of me had been pissed on recently and I thought I was sitting in front of a litter box. That was about 2004; has it gotten any better?

Trump has often said that we have bad airports.

I'm not a big fan of fed largesse being poured out into such projects, but if the money is going to be spent, the NY airports isn't a bad choice. It would be a good test of Trump going udner budget and ahead of schedule. Also, Reagan's turning point was also at an airport, when he went on the tarmac and put PATCO on notice over their illegal strike.
