LaGuargia is a tough place to land on a good day. The glide path is a ridiculously steep, tight bank. The brakes are on hard as soon as the wheels touch.

But, just before you make the turn, you fly directly over Manhattan Island. It’s one of the most stunningly awesome views you will see in your life.

Thank God everyone is OK..Mike Pence can’t catch a break these days, first he lost his beloved pup Maverick yesterday, now this

...

He walked away. That’s a break in my book.

You point out he lost his dog and then I see the back of the fireman and just laughed...

And you left out Saks, Henri Bendel, Bergdorf’s and all of wonderful Madison Ave. for shopping! ;)

My God. I had to divert there once. Short strips, very little in the way of a glide path, you have to drop in over the buildings. San Diego is another one I hate flying into.. thank goodness for the pilots skill and God’s hand in keeping them safe.

I would suggest getting a full sized truck and a slide in camper....you go where you want WHEN you want...not subjugated by anyone....just a thought eh?

Lagarbage was designed and built in the prop days. The runways are just a little shorter than most. The real problem is the heavy use results in rubber build up on the pavement. When it is wet, either due to rain or condensation (some of the runway extends slightly over the water or at least it used to) it can become slippery with resultant increased landing distances. Best to not land long and best be at proper landing speed under such circumstances. I do wonder how much experience the pilots might have had flying in such circumstance.

Good thing President Obama just addressed how vital Airport Advancements have been. Seems off kilter but everything theses days are.

“Anderson is cracking me up - when it snows, they can clear the runway, don’t they have some way to clear rain from the runway?”

Yes, it’s called a GROOVED RUNWAY...

Jesus these people are idiots.

Travel & Leisure rates LaGuardia as the worst major airport in the USA , for a variety of reasons .

I wouldnt know how in the hell to get around that place. Never been there and doubt I ever will.

Been downtown Chicago several times as well as downtown LA. Getting around both those arent bad if you know what to hell to do. The secrete to LA is to stay the hell off the freeways. Bad thing about that is you have to go through some nasty areas.

I live in Columbus, Georgia. I have driven my family in the Roadmaster/Caprice station wagon to Wisconsin, northern Illinois, and Connecticut. When we lived in Illinois, we went to Edmonton in their winter. Doing same in a full sized truck with a slide in camper would be worse. Doing the Columbus, GA to Edmonton, AB run in winter would be hell.

And some folks have to go over bodies of water.

Just had the pleasure of turning off the Kelly file on Fox. May tune back in at 10 for Hannity. I don’t watch but I know the cable monitors who watches what.
