FEDERAL AGENCIES Tears, angst as workforce braces for Trump takeover

U.S. EPA employees were in tears. Worried Energy Department staffers were offered counseling. Some federal employees were so depressed, they took time off. Others might retire early.

And some employees are in downright panic mode in the aftermath of Donald Trump's victory.

"People are upset. Some people took the day off because they were depressed," said John O'Grady, president of American Federation of Government Employees Council 238, a union that represents thousands of EPA employees. After Election Day, "people were crying," added O'Grady, who works in EPA's Region 5 office in Chicago. "They were recommending that people take sick leave and go home."

As I understand it, the discharge rate (firing) for the US Federal Government Civil Service, is less than 1% per year. This defines a major problem in that even a good manager in the Federal bureaucracy has his/her hands tied by the embedded protections for these workers. No private business has anything close to this discharge rate, it is just not human nature for everyone to be a satisfactory employee for every new hire.

At a time long ago, their was an implicit dichotomy between the public and private sector employment. Private sector had higher salaries, faster promotions and much less job security. Public sector was opposite on all of the criteria but had better vacations and holidays plus less stress. This has been turned almost completely upside-down with the only probable private sector advantage being promotions. However, if, as required in today’s employment environment, one adds job benefits like healthcare and pensions, the public sector does MUCH BETTER!

Given that the LEFTISTS are naturally STATISTS, given to growing the government and thus the employees, is it any wonder that the government employee unions and employees in general, are dedicated to voting for Democrats? The problem will be HOW the Trump Administration can whittle away at their ranks, given the active defense that they will get from so many sectors, unions, politicians, MSM and academia, just to name some!

B.S. Fire their a$$es and ban them from all but the most entry-level food service jobs. Oh, and deny them any type of public assistance. In other words, let ‘em starve. No sympathy here.

3 guys on the transition team lower down in the vertical silos are real a** kicking corporate restructuring types. Think Neutron Jack or Chainsaw Al types.

Figure in 4 years - 2 million useless parasitics on federal payroll will be finally doing productive work and no longer leeching off the taxpayer

Federal employee here. And working in SF no less! If Clinton had won I was planning to skip all the “transition meetings” conference calls; now I’m going to gleefully attend every single one!

FedSmith is a federal employee publication; they polled their readers a few weeks before the election and surprisingly Trump was ahead. But I think Feds who read FedSmith might be more conservative (NASA, military perhaps) than your average Fed.

Yes. There are also quite a few parasites at the State level too and I’m sure that they can all see the tsunami of anti-government sentiment coming right at them.

These crybabies don’t realize that the Democrat party let Hillary run so they would be rid of her once and for all?

I seem to remember that over 25% of the DC federal workforce said that they woul resign if Trump won the election. They are flaking out just like the celebs who said that they would move to Canada.

“They should all be worried because, the swamp is getting drained. Several of these Federal Departments need to be eliminated completely. “

And to make sure that they don't have an easy path back, Trump should direct the GSA to dispose of the buildings that they currently occupy. This first four years of the Trump Presidency should be cut, squeeze, trim and eliminate; and follow with “serious roadblock installation” to make any “regeneration in the future” difficult, if not impossible. As we scale back our foreign giveaways, we need to seriously cut our domestic bureaucracy, then even with tax cuts, we can work on reducing our debt.

“All these faceless bureaucratic degenerates do is harass normal Citizens and their businesses. That these government “workers” have a job is an abomination. They are overpaid, get too much leave and holiday, do nothing productive and retire with cushy pay. “

Yes, the government employee is the only place where unionism is still a pernicious boil on the country’s a$$. Without government employee unions, unionism would die off completely. Actually, public employee unions should be illegal because of the way they interact with our “elected officials.”

I believe Trump wants to freeze Federal hiring and reduce it the workforce through attrition outside of the Military and Border Security.

I’m waiting for the 35% of Federal Employees who said they would resign if Trump won to do so, just like I’m waiting for the Celebrities who promised to leave the Country to do so.

We will be waiting a long time for that to happen. LOL
