Former President George W. Bush reflected on the presidential election Tuesday and cautioned against anger influencing political policy, CNN reported.
Speaking in Dallas, Bush acknowledged that economic anxiety and voters who were "sick and tired of the status quo" pushed President-elect Donald Trump to victory though Bush did not mention Trump by name.
"I understand anger, and some people may have been angry when I was president," Bush said. "But anger shouldn't drive policy. What needs to drive policy is what's best for the people who are angry."

Cowardice shouldn’t either, yet, Bush did just that.
Bush was the biggest pussy.
Hey FORMER Pres. maybe you’d done us all a favor if you’d been angry with democrats a couple of times. So, why now do you decide to speak up. You kept your fool mouth shut when obama was running us into the ground but now you want to give Trump advise. You need to stay quiet my friend.
Now, I know you may never read this, your staff will laugh at it. God and one make a majority (check history on that).
WHO’S GOT THE “DAY IN THE LIFE OF PRESIDENT BUSH” PING LIST?!
I love him especially for his love for vets ... a lot of things I don't like, though.
THIS comment is a nothing burger.
Calling someone “angry” carries many implications - all bad. Its an effective leftist slur and propaganda.
Shame on Bush for stupidly repeating this simplistic leftist narrative - or even worse then, one wonders whose side he is one.
Angry? Whos angry? I am ecstatic.
Anger was entirely appropriate as a driving force to save our country and elect Trump. Go paint your dog, George.
Mob rule?
How many American warriors were killed or seriously wounded because of GW's anger
How many innocent Iraqi people were killed, seriously wounded and displaced due to GWB's anger against Saddam instead of Osama ben Laden and his Saudi sponsors?
Don't misdiagnose resolve for anger.
Shut up bush.
Georg W Who?
Exactly, I think he was saying Trump should base his policies on what’s best for the country—even the angry part.
It’s sort of like making your kids brush their teeth whether they want to or not or making them get immunizations (whether they like it or not)—because you are in charge and you know what’s best!
Near the end of the article he specifically implied that Obama should shut up. I didn’t read this as George Bush being an idiot toward Trump.
Why does he think Trump is angry?
Going after Saddam had nothing to do with his anger and you know it. That was just liberal spew.
Dear Bush,
Stick a Jeb in it.
I’m not angry, I’m happy, very happy with President Trump and how he will make our country great again!
President Bush, I voted for you and stuck by you through thick and thin, even when you let me down once, twice, fifty times. Please be quiet and go away. No more Bushes, no more Clintons, no more Obamas. You had your chance to serve, thank you for your service. Now it’s time for you to ZIP YOUR LIPS.
Yeah, sure. Like your family was publicly angry at Trump for beating Jeb like a drum. Funny....I don’t recall W lecturing Obama on policy.
I agree that W only wanted the best for this country. But I cannot give him a pass based on that. He's like a bus driver who truly wants what's best for his passengers, but then drives the bus off a cliff.
W is one of the worst presidents ever. In the bottom ten, IMHO.
