Trump has no obligation to hold news conferences

Newt Gingrich on Tuesday said President-elect Donald Trump shouldn't feel any obligation to hold news conferences...

"The news media so totally disgraced itself in this election, if I were Trump I would just say no," Gingrich, a Trump adviser, said during an interview with USA Today's Capital Download. "And if the White House Correspondents' Association doesn't like it, I'd say, 'Fine, disband.'"

On Monday, Trump blasted CNN, saying the network is "so embarrassed" by "their support" of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and has gotten worse since the election.

Gingrich said Trump should continue tweeting, but he should have an "editorial board in-between the first draft and sending it."

"But he shouldn't give it up, and he shouldn't give up being Donald Trump," Gingrich said.

Correct.

Trump will engage the media, but on his own terms.

My favorite part of that interview was when Trump flat out refused to tell her about plans to kill ISIS..and she sort of sputtered something about shouldn’t the American people be allowed to know..and the answer was NO..not if it gets in the way of the target.

Hillary goes what 300 days without an interview during a campaign, and nothing said.

Trump gave interviews regularly, but when campaign is over, suddenly interviews are imperative.

"The president of the United States can't randomly tweet without having somebody check it out,"

Why not? These days, it's no different from random comments at a gathering.

Why the hell should he?

Just call Rush and Hannity and/or let his press secretary do it and leave it at that.

Disband the “White House Press Corp” completely.

Why help them to lie some more about you?

And the format was:

Pre-selected reporter asks scripted question.

Obama bloviates for 25 minutes.

Repeat once.

Conference over.

Absolutely right. There’s no obligation on the part of the administration to kowtow to the press and afford permanent space in the White House. They are indeed not a part of the government.

He should refuse to allow any of the media outlets that partied with Podesta to strategize the election to have WH passes. That would be every MSM outlet except Fox, Then give access to Breitbart, Washington Times, and other conservative media. Tell the media when they start reporting fairly they may get access.

****Actually, I think it would be kind of funny for Trump to invite various High School journalism students to the WH****

I had the same thought, rub their nose in it.

Throw RSBN into the mix. They need the coverage and are 100% TRUMP. They did a great job covering the rallies on a low budget. Joe Seales needs to be commended.

Agree!! That would relegate the MSM to what they do best—LIE! Viewer/listener -ship would shift enormously to these other outlets to seek out the truth before again misinforming the public.

Eff YouTube, owned by a liberal hack org. Once in office, simply put out videos on a govey or personal website.

“They are private enterprise, a business.”

That’s what they should be, but they really aren’t.

The NY Times and the Washington Post, for example, though privately owned political entities, believe themselves to be part of government.

Making a profit, the goal of a serious business or enterprise, is of little importance.

I agree completely. Maybe grant access to RSBN & WND.

What about news teleconferences with smaller, local news outlets around the country? That way he could speak directly to the people in middle America that voted for him & listen to their concerns directly from them.
