ESPN Tells Hosts To Get More Political, Then Replaces Black Conservative Who Got Political
The Federalist ^ | 04/06/2017 | Bre Payton

ESPN, the cable sports network that’s been hemorrhaging viewers for months, asked their hosts to get more political. But when Sage Steele, a black, conservative-leaning host did just that, they replaced her with someone far more liberal.

Recently, Steele complained that the anti-Trump protestors demonstrating against the president’s travel ban at their airport caused her to miss her flight. In February, she spurred controversy by saying she’s faced more racism from black people than from people of other races.

All of this helps to deflate the asking price for the company. My guess is that by December....they will be on the market and probably bought by some Chinese media company...renamed, and half the hosts will be given walking papers.

what an excellent recipe for success- turn you network into a network that caters to just 24% of the country while alienating 37% conservatives and many of the 35% moderates

Losing viewer-ship much ESPN?

just seems good business sense to try and stay away from the political....sports is the one place where you can have a liberal and conservative get along for a few minutes because you are not talking politics. but espn has idiots that don’t realize that whether liberal or conservative there hosts are not there to talk politics they are there to recall stats and correlate data on what’s happened in a game. they are not there to comment on politics unless it has a direct tie into sports.

So seems like Sage Steele (shwing) is the dog house for complaining about the sacred airport protesters mucking things up for productive remembers of society.

Sage is a nice lady who can do better than the floundering ESPN.

This is sloppy reasoning that is more characteristic of the left. I really hate to see the decline in ESPN's subscribers tied to politics. ESPN's loss of subscribers is due to a secular decline in cable subscribers in general (cord-cutting).

In order to verify this premise, we need to see if other sports networks are also hemorrhaging subscribers.

Fox Sports 1 -- losing subscribers
Fox Sports 2 -- losing subscribers
Fox Deportes -- losing subscribers
BEIN Sports -- losing subscribers
MLB Network -- losing subscribers
NBA TV -- losing subscribers
NBC Sports -- losing subscribers
Univision Deportes -- losing subscribers

Yep. Seems that something other than politics is driving this.

Sage Steele has far too much talent for ESPN.

Glorified Scoreboard keepers.

Sage Steele: WB.

Would wear a Thomas Jefferson wig and call her “Sally Hemings” during the act.

ESPN Tells Hosts To Get More Political,

Translation: Kick Trump's butt.

How the network thinks they can survive, without half their audience? I guess the hosts are going to take a pay cut.

I was gliding across the channels yesterday when I stopped on ESPN. I have no idea what sport they were discussing because the conversation was entirely about race, with some black commentator reproaching the others for something he declared was ‘racist”. Why would anyone with an interest in sports watch ESPN? Why does ESPN think that sports fans want to hear lectures about racist conceits?
