North Korea's army: 1.2M men, obsolete equipment and nukes
FoxNews.com ^ | 28-April-2017 | Christopher Wallace

North Korea’s military may be armed with obsolete conventional weapons, but at 1.2 million men, it poses a very real threat to its neighbor and nemisis to the south.

Equipped with 20,000 artillery pieces, 1,000 short- and medium-range missiles, 70 submarines, more than 400 patrol/missile boats and 563 combat aircraft, the Hermit Kingdom's forces are poised to do maximum damage in a sneak attack against South Korea.

Article claims North Korea has 10 nukes. It is probably classified the yield of these warheads (kilotons or megatons).

The artillery pieces aimed at Seoul are mostly on rails so it is unclear if they can be taken out before they are used on Seoul.

Admiral Harry Harris (US CinCPac) is quoted in the article. I don't know if they still use the title "CinCPac".

That 1.2 million man army's weaponry might have been manufactured by Hasbro...

Dummy diplomacy: North Korean weapons displayed during parade are FAKE and their sunglasses aren't even combat ready, US military expert says

Don’t get me wrong ... People will die if lil kim goes nuts but in my humble estimation lil kim is at his best a pesky insect. Without China lil kim is less than a pesky insect

all of their rhetoric is just gobbledygook. We’ve found the chink in their armor.

I'd like to know WHEN was the last time "Former intelligence officer and U.S. Army veteran Michael Pregent" and Admiral Harris was IN South Korea.
I believe their information about North Korea's capabilities are a little out of date.

Do they really believe that ours, as well as South Koreas artillery, hasn't already 'dial-in' those North Korean artillery sites and their barracks buildings that house those North Korean artillery crews ?
Do they really believe that our combined artillery crews are going to just sit there and take it ?

This is an Army prepared to fight what would be a 1950s type war, with enough fuel to probably last four weeks, and led mostly by a bunch of 60 to 75 year old generals who got their job because the previous guy fell asleep in some staff meeting with Kim. The nukes are the only thing that makes this worth discussing.

What does this tiny place need 70 subs for? That is worrisome.

If they are electric they have to charge their batteries. To do that they need air for some sort of generator. Air equals snorkels and snorkels can be seen both visually and with advanced radar. Then comes the means of propulsion. Any blade make a noise that our subs can find, catalog and track. Each one has a signature.

I doubt if maybe 10% are deployed at any one time except for the show of force drills they like to have. So with that said, the sub pens are known because we have followed them there, again, cataloging everyone of them. Despite all of the hand wringing by dupes of the caliber of Wallace, we are getting nothing more than the surrender crowd trying to deter any action because they believe all of the garbage coming out of NK but have no idea of what we are capable of, or even worse, try to project their wadded panty fears to elicit doing nothing to wish for peace without strength.

It’s unrealistic. Maybe they have 63 derelicts and 7 operational toy subs

Remembering the quality of the old Daewoo automobile, I chuckled seeing the listing of Daewoo weapons. I am sure now their arms are efficient and effective.

This is an Army prepared to fight what would be a 1950s type war,

Their 563 "combat" aircraft are mostly comprised of leftovers from the 60's and 70's with some even from the 50's.....And who knows how many of them can even actually fly today......

Good points. That is how N. Korea is generally presented...an unstoppable hoard. The truth, though, is that S. Korea’s military is lightyears better, far better equipped, and capable of dealing a death’s blow to their N. Korean opponents without US assistance.

With the US alongside it would be a bloodbath

This problem needs a REAL solution, and that starts with the Air Force/Boeing project, CHAMP (“Counter-electronics High-powered Microwave Advanced Missile Project”) and MOP ("Massive Ordnance Penetrator").

Kim Jong-un gets a MOAB suppository.
Then we launch every aircraft in the region that's supersonic, including South Korea's fighters and bombers, to cross into North Korea from all directions, to overfly low level at Mach One PLUS, to bust every piece of glass in North Korea.
Then we firebombs the place to ashes.
The only real transportation system North Korea has is the railroads, so they get blown to smithereens. and that's just the start of day one.

Those howitzers unless knocked out in a pre-emtive week long Moab and bunker buster barrage pose a horrible threat to Seoul.

His nukes can't reach US territory but I'll bet they could reach our guys stationed in Japan and South Korea. And one nuke hitting Seoul or Tokyo would send shock waves through the world economy that would make the Great Depression look like a stroll in the park by comparison.
