It is unenforceable and therefor meaningless.
Revenue from CANADA?
It doesn’t matter. A .05% chunk of revenue is more important to them than internet freedom for individuals.
And besides, as I said before, they probably agree with Canadian leftists on what sites should be blocked.
Come visit Alberta. We’re nice, but there’s a heavy righteous anger growing.
The Canadian SC can eat shit and crap hamburgers for all I care.
They have NO jurisdiction outside of Canada.
Google will lose even more revenue when people start using other search engines. I don’t think they want to get too heavily into the censorship business based on rulings by foreign courts.
I hope you are right, but I worry that they will do the “left thing”.
Putin would love this as well... no more telling the world about Stalin’s ccrimes...
Google sucks, and is certainly not necessary, but try and take it away from all Canadians, and see what happens in the next election...
Last one was trail of tears in BC?
Beat me to it! “The internet has no borders - its natural habitat is global,” Secondly, they can force a company to their Whims!
Ironic given Canada’s touchy-feely open-borders attitude.
So we’ve gone from the application of “international law” in sovereign nations to the international jurisdiction of a single national court? Just what the hell are law schools teaching these days? (Rhetorical question that.)
Can’t say that I’m a fan of Google the company, but it’s high time for Google to play chicken with the Canadian “Supreme” (as in “Supreme Leader”) Court by removing access to all Google tools and apps to anyone in Canada. Let Canadian citizens raise hell with their supreme court when all the capabilities and apps they’ve become accustomed to are no longer available.
Yes this is really troubling. Guess I am never going to Canada
