Former talk-show host Phil Donahue on Saturday reflected on President Trump's administration, calling it "the darkest political moment in American history."

“This is the darkest political moment in American history,” Donahue said on MSNBC Saturday. “Who’s going to argue that?”

I hated his politics, but you could see why Donahue had such a successful show. He knew how to get to the heart of an issue and elicit great material from his guests.

Phil’s darkest days were when he stopped his TV lovefests with that Soviet apologist Vladimir Pozner. The left has openly cavorted with the Russians for decades and we can’t even begin to chronicle the damage to our national security that relationship has caused. The Venona Papers proved that.

What about:
The Great Depression?
The Civil War?
The Assassination of Lincoln?
The Assassination of JFK?
September 11, 2001?
Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941?
......and so on!

And I will give Donahue credit - lots of credit - for one thing. After Donahue asked his question, he let Friedman give a full and complete answer. Donahue did not interrupt Friedman, or try to talk over him. That was refreshing. It’s something we rarely see in interviews these days.

Yes, I agree with you on that point.

From Phil Donahue, the guy who believed and promoted the self-confessed Soviet lying propagandist, Vladimir Posner. Soviet propaganda influence: good. any hint of anti-communist Russian influence: bad.

Phil’s darkest days were when he stopped his TV lovefests with that Soviet apologist Vladimir Pozner. The left has openly cavorted with the Russians for decades and we can’t even begin to chronicle the damage to our national security that relationship has caused. The Venona Papers proved that.

You two are great! You have good memories and hold dumb Phil to the truth detector!

He obviously has slept away much of his life.

Civil War was not about keeping slaves. It was about preserving the ability of the likes of a Barack Obama and his central government to have virtually unlimited dictatorial power.

I have a co-worker who thinks blue states finance benefits for red states, health care and otherwise. She also thinks it’s selfish if people don’t buy health insurance to pay for subsidies.

What a drama queen. I’ll bet he’s said the same thing about every Republican administration.

He’s right and its entirely created by the left wing lunacy surrounding it.

“I have a co-worker who thinks blue states finance benefits for red states, health care and otherwise.”

To a certain degree, that’s true. Because the economies of states like California and New York are so large, they produce tax revenues which are redistributed to smaller states, many of which vote Republican.

That true, but I think she was referring to people who don’t buy health insurance. She seems to think they are selfish that way. I should have explained better.

Okay. And in no way was I defending big government spending. It’s just a fact that must be considered when tearing into places like California, as happens way too often here.
