National security adviser HR McMaster used a 1972 photo of Afghan women wearing miniskirts to help convince President Trump to stay the course in Afghanistan, according to a report on Tuesday.
McMaster showed the president a black-and-white photograph of three women walking down a Kabul street in miniskirts to convince him that Western culture had once thrived in Afghanistan and could again, the Washington Post reported.
The photo was among the arguments the presidents staff used to make the case that he should not pull troops from Afghanistan the site of Americas longest war, the newspaper said.
In a speech Monday evening at Fort Myer in Arlington, Va., Trump declared, We will fight to win in the war-torn country.
The decision was a U-turn for the president who had previously called for withdrawing US troops, writing on Twitter in January 2013 that the war keeps wasting our money rebuild the US!

“Those arent mini skirts.”
True. I wore miniskirts and those ain’t miniskirts. :)
But they aren’t burqqas, either, and I guess that’s the point the writer is trying to make.
If we are doing a Crusade to spread Western Civilization you don’t allow the enemy to come through your borders intentionally. If McMaster wants to do this, immigration from non-Westereners needs to end first.
Did you listen to Trumps speech?
I’ve seen those pictures and wonder what happened... Oh yeah Islam.
>Our national interest is keeping radical Islam out of this country. We either kill them over there or fight them in your back yard.
I’d prefer we root them out of our back yard and send them to Afghanistan.
“...third time...”
I know it was the NY Post - they are using the Washington Post as their source...”
Second line: “ ... the Washington Post reported...”
And whilst the Murdoch boys are turning the N.Y. POST leftward, it's a paper that is still a far cry from the toilet paper/PRAVDA that Bezos has turned the WaPo into !
Lol.. That’s Afghanistan’s version of the Kardashians.
“...original source is the Bezos-Post...”
Thank you! Bezos’ anti Trump personal million dollar “blog” was the source for this story.
It has to be Fake News and a typical Trump smear story from the Compost to attempt to make President Trump appear foolish and portray him as if he would make a war decision based on a picture of women in western skirts.
“... learn how to read...”
Please see #77 and #86 - I wish Freepers would be civil to each other.
They look like Trannies
And as far as posters being "civil" to each other, you haven't been here all that many years and obviously don't know what this site was like from the beginning; but I do and "civility" isn't, and never has been, the unalloyed standard; though most of us do usually try to be.
Journalism is dead. Those aren’t mini-skirts.
Silly to pretend that staying there isn’t causing MORE terrorism.
Silly to pretend it isn’t somewhere around 4,000.
Silly to pretend that 100,000 would be any different.
Silly to call a sane course of action “giving up”. Silly to think after 16 years there we control 60% of the country. Silly to think you have no plan other than staying another 16 years.
This is a money making, neocon, and generals war that has nothing whatsoever to do with protecting the USA.
When you have to quote an 0bama talking point you're probably losing the argument.
No matter what one thinks of The Donald, we know he is a fool for mini-skirts
Look at the last four words in the paragraph. All you need to know.
This reeks like an urban legend seed being planted so that NO MATTER WHAT happens in Afghanistan, the fake news will have a tale to weave to make Donald Trump look like a monster.
I’m with you. If we had defined a clear goal from the beginning and taken rational steps to achieve it, 16 years should be enough to get there. Obviously, that hasn’t really happened, so what are we doing there?
By my way of thinking, making a country ready for miniskirts is “nation building.” I do not troops to shed blood for that goal.
Making a country afraid of harboring terrorists, is a worthy goal. We should have clobbered them so hard in 2001 that they feared us.
