The mayor of the Houston promised to personally defend undocumented immigrants who be may hesitant to seek help in the aftermath of Harvey over fears of being deported.
Mayor Sylvester Turner said he would represent any immigrant who faces deportation after seeking help during the storm relief efforts.
“If you are in a stressful situation, I don’t care who you are, I don’t care what you’re religion is, I don’t care what your language is, you come and take advantage of every service that we have,” Turner added.
The city of Houston also sought to reassure immigrants who may be seeking shelter.
“We will not ask for immigration status or papers from anyone at any shelter,” the city said in a tweet late Monday night. “This rumor is FALSE!”

I suspect a lot of illegals will move from Houston to other American cities and a lot will just go home. I’m okay with them going home. As for those who need shelter, I approve of providing warm, dry beds for those in need - ICE has nice facilities for them.

A POS was arrogantly telling us here yesterday how great the mayor is because of all the alleged long term freeper had seen on TV about him and Harvey, and we must not live in the area if we doubt what a great guy the mayor is.

I think the idea is that many of them need help but are afraid to seek it for fear of being deported. He’s trying to tell them that they don’t have to worry about that.
My personal take is that he is the Mayor of the citizens and legal residents. The rest are on their own.
Uh, yeah... we will help people in need. It’s the right thing to do.
But I’ll also go ahead and say it: A citizen, possibly someone who has spent their life abiding by the law, paying taxes, contributing to society, raising a family... could die while resources are sent to help someone here illegally.
We have already had some ghetto types cruising through our area looking for stuff to steal.

Maybe the mayor will promote Americans in the demolition and reconstruction work after the flood in stead of illegals. He might get the AA unemployment rate below 10%.

Amen...I understand the concern they might have but if they’d rather drown...?...get legal then, at some point SOON right?
That said, that Mayor is an AH IMHO.
