Trump voters open to bump stock ban after Las Vegas shooting
Washington Examiner ^ | 10/14/17 | Daniel Allott

As night follows day, mass shootings in America are followed by a succession of Democratic politicians and liberal activists pushing for tighter gun restrictions. Almost as reliably, those efforts fail. But in the wake of the massacre in Las Vegas, in which Stephen Paddock killed 58 people and injured hundreds more at an outdoor concert, there is reason to believe this time might be different. Paddock used “bump stock” devices that effectively turn semi-automatic firearms into fully automatic weapons, causing a higher death toll. Republicans and Democrats in Congress have shown some support for a ban of bump stocks. House Speaker Paul Ryan has echoed the National Rifle Association’s preference for a regulatory ban, while a bipartisan group of 20 House members has introduced legislation that would make it illegal to manufacture, own, or transfer bump stocks. There is also an openness to banning bump stocks among voters and officeholders in the battleground counties featured in The Race To 2020. All of these counties have strong gun cultures.

Ban bump stocks and get it over with.....they make a legal gun illegal.

Nonsense. What the Democrats, and their RINO anti 2nd Amendment friends want is another excuse to regulate firearms. Massachusetts just passed legislation intended to outlaw bump stocks - and they did so by outlawing anything that makes the rate of fire of a gun faster. So presumably triggers with lighter pulls, or work that causes a weapon to cycle more quickly is now illegal in Massachusetts.

As horrible as it seems, terrorists shooting at crowds are still preferable to the same terrorist setting off a bomb or crashing a truck or airplane into the crowd.

Politicians who immediately go after the rights of law abiding Americans when a terrorist attacks have an agenda whose primary goal is not what they say it is. Keeping the public safe from similar attacks in the future is less important to them than taking away the rights of the citizens.

Why does anyone need to fire that many rounds in such a short period of time?

Because PEOPLE LIKE YOU want the government to come take arms away from us, and someday, we will need suppressive fire against such jackbooted thugs.

"Why does anyone need to fire that many rounds in such a short period of time?"

Why does anyone need to drive a motor vehicle for nothing more than getting to entertainment? Driving is more dangerous than firearms.

Not long ago, a terrorist in Europe used a vehicle to run over and kill many people at once. Maybe someone here can tell us about that body count.

As if it would make any difference. Someone want it bad enough will find a way to get one.

Maybe you should read the constitution. Does “shall not be infringed” ring a bell? A bump stock is part of “arms” and banning it is clear infringement. That’s the end of the matter constitutionally speaking.

Ban bump stocks and get it over with.....they make a legal gun illegal.

Only in a SLAVE STATE like the place you must live in. In the free states where men and women live free, the Constitution is still in force, and it says "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED."

Who is going to come and take my bump stock from me? You? Cops from the slave states like NY, NJ, IL, CA? Bring it on. We need to get this civil war over anyway.

Here’s the BATF letter.
http://www.gunslot.com/pictures/batf-letter-about-slidefire-stock
The response of Trump voters should be, “Ban `bump-stocks’?
Don’t be silly. These are gun parts, not firearms. And Obama’s BATF gave Slide Fire a thumbs up, citing the rationale that it helped shooters with mobility problems.
So instead let’s talk about lifting the onerous regulations on suppressors for shooters trying to save their hearing. Then we’ll talk about national carry reciprocity and also repeal of some stupid laws banning machine guns.”
You never show weakness to gun grabbers. And welcome to FR.

The “Washington Examiner” is wrong on this one, but they were wrong in their constant smear stories and hit pieces aimed at Roy Moore during the GOP primary campaign in Alabama too.

“Washington Examiner”=RINOstream Media.

I’m open to trading a bump stock ban for national concealed carry reciprocity. I’m not open to anything else.

That's a big mistake. Concede nothing.

If the left wants to enact gun legislation "that will make a difference", then CCW reciprocity and preventing places of public accommodation from banning firearms is what we should have a pro-gun Congress and President enact.

Criminals disregard "no guns" signs and policies. They prefer them -- no one can shoot back, like Mandalay Bay Hotel Security which has a strict no weapons policy for its members of security.

More fake news. The weapons are still semi-auto.

Why don’t so-called journalists ever do research before showing what idiots they are?

Say what? I think they are stupid but they are legal. Banning them because some folks like me think they're stupid, others consider them a waste, and others think they're scary doesn't make sense as it is just another slippery step in the battle to ban guns.

That's the great thing about the Constitution - it allows bad things to occur because Freedom is more precious than absolute control by a government - even God gives us Free Will to do horrendous things....
