It looks like the left-leaning political bloviating has finally caught up to the troubled ESPN network.
Not long ago, the sports channel was forced to admit that lecturing Americans about politics wasnt exactly a smart business plan. With revenue dropping, ESPN had no choice but to drastically eliminate staff but now it may be considering an even more dramatic cut.
The Hollywood Reporter has suggested that there are signs the struggling sports company may be getting ready to walk away from the NFL.
ESPNs contract to air Monday Night Football games is expiring fairly soon
and some experts think the sports giant wont be renewing that agreement.

ESPN and the NFL need to die a fast miserable death.
Pot, meet kettle. ESPN seeks to dissociate itself from the culprit that has gotten irreversibly bad press, the awareness that they’ve been taking a rhetorical symbolic “knee” for years has now been revived, now that the NFL has also put an unwanted focus on them . I guess the saving grace is that they themselves will tread more lightly on their overt political “commentary”.
I’m with you on that! I loathe TV.
Pete Garcia wrote this gem about the misinformation age we live in:
“When people dont know what to believe or trust anymore, it causes them to either mentally check-out or go into full-blown panic mode. The mainstream news (people and organizations) are overwhelmingly leftist (progressive) in their political and ideological worldviews, and they want to drive the national narrative. The reason they had to hijack the narrative, is that objective truth (what is) is lethal to their left-wing ideological pattern of subjective reasoning (the agenda). So if truth cant be destroyed, the only options left for the left, is to either silence (by force) those who oppose their view, or to sow as much confusion into what is real, that the truth becomes completely obscured.”
A lot of good folks are in “check out” mode.
I'm amazed they've been able to keep this business running as well as it did for so long. This would be like Ford producing crappy Super Duty pickup trucks from 1995 onward, but still maintaining record sales of these trucks every year until 2017.
well, back to figure 8 “racing” from West Islip, NY
The contract will be renewed.
IMHO this proves that Conservative America is a lot bigger than the media ever wish to accept or admit.
Care to ruin the NFL? Disrespect my flag and see what happens. We’re watching it fall apart now.
They coopted MNF and drove up the price of cable package to include ESPN which I for one wasnt going to pay. Now who cares I wont be watching NFL games and Scrooge leftist ESPN.
Maybe “All Part of The Plan”?
The left has been wanting to feminize/do away with everything masculine. Not surprised.
Maybe ESPN will go back to its roots, “Australian Rules Football”, college Lacrosse and LOTS of Sportscenter.
It won’t make a difference, they have already damaged their brand beyond being capable of redemption. Because they failed to see the writing on the wall, and did nothing about it for far too long. They will have to fold & reemerge as a new entity.
Too bad. Too bad. Too bad.
Maybe they can get some profits back by opening a DISNEY theme park in NORTH KOREA. LOL!
I think this contract runs through 2021.
You are correct about ESPN and the others CBS, Fox and NBC
renewed their contracts for nine years through the 2022 season,
I stopped watching or listening to ESPN a while ago. NFL more recently. Leftist politics only pay if your on top. The messengers always get burned.
Back in the 50’s and 60’s, America had a choice to make.
Invest in Universities as institutions of higher learning, or dump millions upon millions into sports programs instead.
And now we are seeing the fruits of that awful decision.
this is pretty soon, no?
they must run a very narrow margin
Are we, or have we just checked into a better medium where we too have a voice that can add input?
Didn’t Ford do just that?
Just joking.
Worse for who? More effective maybe?
Not having television, the only time I see the NFL is in sports bars. And even then what I’m usually seeing is a bunch of guys behind star trek type desks talking about football with all sorts of video game graphibs around video images swishing into the picture.
I’d rather slide down the edge of a rusty razor blade into a vat of rubbing alcohol.
