Breaking: ESPN Sets Stage to Cut NFL, Nixes NFL Language from Contracts
Conservative Tribune [compilation] ^ | Benjamin Arie

It looks like the left-leaning political bloviating has finally caught up to the troubled ESPN network.

Not long ago, the sports channel was forced to admit that lecturing Americans about politics wasn’t exactly a smart business plan. With revenue dropping, ESPN had no choice but to drastically eliminate staff — but now it may be considering an even more dramatic cut.

The Hollywood Reporter has suggested that there are signs the struggling sports company may be getting ready to walk away from the NFL.

ESPN’s contract to air Monday Night Football games is expiring fairly soon… and some experts think the sports giant won’t be renewing that agreement.

If you can’t afford to write the checks, then get out of the business.

They talked about this this morning on local talk radio.

All it is is a directive by the management to the contracts and budget people to look at the numbers without NFL revenue.................

These morons had the ultimate gravy train. Sports of all types to feed the appetite of millions who enjoyed watching them. Just play the replays and read your script of the play-by-play.

But they had to inject their leftist, retrograde, socialist, and evil viewpoints in a lecturing manner towards their audience. I hope ESPN gets bought out.

The damage of the boycotts is worse than they have let on?

Does that portend a reduction in the monthly service charges for the retail cable customer?

Pffftt!!

No likely.

I think this contract runs through 2021. Is that what they call "fairly soon" in the TV business?

If the report posted in this article is true, it may actually portend one of two possible scenarios that I would find remarkable:

1. ESPN may be looking to continue paying the NFL $1.9 billion per year for Monday Night Football, but without even broadcasting the games anymore.

2. ESPN may be looking for legal grounds to terminate their contract with the NFL in the near future.

Yet we have Jocks for Brains Freepers claiming that our boycotts are not having any impact. We get it: racism is bad. Do you know what’s worse? Injecting racism just to trigger liberal anger. Take the NFL/National Felon League for instance:

So National Felon League, "How is your liberal fake racism bs doing these days?

Hey Disney/ABC/ESPN how are your National Felon League tv audiences doing so far this year? How many dumb former jocks will be laid off in your next lay offs as your ESPN/NFL tv audience shrinks each week.

I'm not a CFO or CEO but in my experience when such a request is made, the top dogs are considering how to spin something to the shareholders (or in this case cable companies carrying the channel) in case they go in that direction. Loss of a marquee franchise like Monday Night Football would have to be explained in terms of "relax, this doesn't hurt us because we'll make it up with more SJW preaching, that gets big ratings..." and then they cross their fingers and hope the cable companies don't either drop them or say "yeah, we'll be paying you half what we used to now"

Maybe they should hire Megyn Kelly to save their ratings.

NFL has a ton of problems and the protests are just the straw that broke the camel’s back.

The product is just not that good. If a team has a good quarterback, they win. If they don’t, they lose. And the rule changes concerning pass defense have guaranteed it will remain that way.

Not only has the product declined but it’s clearly over exposed.

The number of stoppages in play are intolerable. Not only are too many penalties called but it takes forever to call them. Every flag requires an officials conference and the number of video reviews are irritating.

Kick offs and punt returns are nonexistent. All kick offs go through the end zone and nearly ever punt is either out of bounds, fair caught, or called back for holding/blocking in the back. Net effect of no kick offs or punt returns is more opportunities for commercials between meaningless non-plays.

Commercials up the wazoo.

Then add to this the disdain in which they hold their customers and all the PR spots they air .... ISH,

What if kids choose other sports or study to escape a rough inner city childhood? Football loses its ability to propel a boy into fame and fortune. How did that social justice help?? Teach kids chess so that they can think a couple moves ahead of this exact moment.

Astonishing, isn't it? I would have said that there's nothing you could do that would ruin that brand in the space of a year. MNF had achieved the status of a national institution, a tradition. Bulletproof. Couldn't be done. And they did it.

The NFL starts bleeding game attendance, no problem, just tighten the camera angles and don't show the crowd. They start to bleed viewers, big problem, but it's recoverable if they get them back before the next advertising contracts are signed. They start to bleed advertisers, blow taps. They start to bleed broadcasters, better cover the body before it starts to stink.

“I mean, did you EVER in your lifetime think . . . “

WE owe it ALL to Donald J. Trump! He’s thrown bombs in all the RAT “outhouses” and it’s raining $hit and boards on all of them! Reagan was a great man and President, but he never got his game out of first gear by comparison to Trump. Instead of working on one of two major problems, Trump is working on virtually all of them. God Bless and Protect him.

ESPN, or as I call it the Especially Smarmy Political Network screwed the pooch here. As you said, they'd cornered the market and have since ruined it by making everything political.

I hardly turn on my TV anymore. Last night it wasn't on at all. I listen to music now more than anything else and if Spotify starts inserting politics into things I'll turn them off too.

At the very least, espn has to substantially reduce its payments to NFL since the games are losing audience more and more. NFL is going down rapidly with its (insulted, former) fans
