I just voted in SW Virginia. Rural area, goes usually about 58-42 for the good guys (or at least the less-evil guys). More cars than usual for off year elections but no real wait inside. This was about noon. I'd guess that it was half of 2016 (Trump), and about equal to when Cuccinelli lost a very close race without any establishment help in 2013 to McAuliffe. Although the Dems have an edge in VA now, I still think it is very winnable for Republicans. My hope is that we pull out a win in a close election. For those conservatives sitting out because Gillespie is kind of gutless, I know you won't listen but it still needs to be said. You are not helping.
And like a good little GOPe minion, it was Gillespie's "turn".
Then, the GOPe sicced their apologists onto Free Republic to try and whip up support for Ed. It didn't work.
The Trump Justice Dept will keep them from gerrymandering away more than three House Republicans... but that’s bad enough.
While Trump was winning the Electoral College, Trump lost Virginia by almost a quarter million votes and that was on the night that he was at the height of his popularity. Something to think about.
Based on current performance, I wouldn’t have much confidence in the Trump DOJ. In fact, it can be argued that the DOJ is not under Trumps control.
UVA Professor Larry Sabato on Fox Business agrees with you. He said Virginia is no longer purple, it is blue, light blue but blue.
I have to say, I had mixed emotions because of his ties to the Bushes! On one had, he is a Republican, so I was pulling for him. On the other hand, he is of the GOPe Bushes. At least with the democrat, we all know what we’re getting.

If the so called GOPe are so good at winning election strategies, then why didn’t Gillespie run a campaign featuring GW Bush who by all accounts is not a “blowhard?”
As of tonight GOPe is officially a losers strategy.
This Rat election and purge of House of Delegates Republican reps will only accelerate the departure of White, middle class, citizens from the state. That will put the petal to the metal for those who want to turn Virginia into a mini California.

Trump, the man himself, couldn’t win Virginia, so think before you type. Virginia is a blue state. The dems have now won 13 straight statewide elections.
Note big discrepancy between exits (that had G winning) & reality. We can never trust exits. I should know that, even when they are on our side.

Mark Levin, who lives in VA, said the exact same thing this evening about an hour before the polls closed, except that he didn't say light blue, just blue.
Do they even have exit polls for non-Presidential year races? What is your source for that?

I see that there were exit polls taken. I can’t think of a logical explanation for them over predicting Gillespie other than ballot box stuffing (if they uniformly over predicted Gillespie).
