Live Election Report From Virginia

Posted on 11/07/2017 10:38:40 AM PST by SarahPalin2012

I just voted in SW Virginia. Rural area, goes usually about 58-42 for the good guys (or at least the less-evil guys). More cars than usual for off year elections but no real wait inside. This was about noon. I'd guess that it was half of 2016 (Trump), and about equal to when Cuccinelli lost a very close race without any establishment help in 2013 to McAuliffe. Although the Dems have an edge in VA now, I still think it is very winnable for Republicans. My hope is that we pull out a win in a close election. For those conservatives sitting out because Gillespie is kind of gutless, I know you won't listen but it still needs to be said. You are not helping.

So sad you remain in a state in decline.

Not for long. The revolution has begun. Now step aside and let the real Republicans get the job done!

Forget Republicans. Try Americans being Americans. Get rid of the commies and the government is god folks. Remove all the foreigners.

I think that the Northam attack ads may have been more effective than the optimists were realizing (corporate lobbyist etc.) Plus Northam ran TONS of ads accusing Gillespie of lying in his attack ads. They may have been more effective than the Gillespie people realized.

Gillespie was a loser, bottom line.

Well, you're right about that in a sense. It'll be a new Republican party, not the godforsaken UniParty detritus it is now. Let the Bushes and the McCains and the Gillespies and the GOPe cheerleaders that infest Free Republic every election cycle have that one. They can go the way of the Whigs.

An analyses of exit polls showed a pretty big win for Gillespie. Guess the voters were lying.

I don’t care. We will get a better candidate next time. Hopefully Bannon and Trump will step in and help Corey Stewart with the senate primary in ‘18.

I am no fan of Gillespie, but any Rep would have lost. It looks like an 8.4% blow out. Vogel and Adams also lost.

You and Custer. Where the Hell did all those Dems come from? I had this discussion on the impact of changing demographics with many VA Reps. I had one on one briefings on immigration with Cantor, Gillespie, Allen, and other Reps. They didn’t get it. Dave Brat was the only one who did.

Hey Mr. “think before you type” ... how do you explain that Jill Vogel got more votes running as Lt. Governor than Gillespie running for Governor.

Let me give you a clue, Jill Vogel embraced Trump.

Gillepsie’s late momentum was attributed to speaking out against sanctuary cities — a Trumpian policy. Problem for Ed was that it was too little too late and most people didn’t really believe Rove’s establishment candidate.

If the GOP had a more anti-establishment pro Trump candidate running for governor, then it would have created much more grass roots enthusiasm and the results would have been different tonight — maybe not a win but much closer.

Stick that into your crackpipe Mr. “think before you type.”

Actually, Gillespie's loss has improved Stewart's chances of getting the nomination, since now the GOPe's grip on the levers of power is weakened. Had Cheap Labor Express Ed won, the good-old-boy GOPe would have looked down their noses at Corey and dismissed him for being too "conservative", too "Trump-like", and worked with Governor Gillespie to get another RINO lined up.

Jill Vogel still lost by 122,000 votes.

I know she lost, but she got more votes than Ed by embracing Trump — to me that speaks volumes as she was not at the top of the ticket.

Gotta love these out-of-staters that lecture us about how to run our politics, eh? LOL

Cucinelli nearly won just four years ago. Something else happened besides the demographic trend, which is gradual. Maybe it was the felons Mcauliffe legalized. Normally I don’t put much stock in simple explanations like that, but this result doesn’t totally make sense to me.

We’ll have to see the analysis of the turnout before we can draw conclusions. Obviously the demographics keep getting more Democrat, but things didn’t change that much from four years ago when Cuccinelli nearly won. If the base turned out and Gillespie still got creamed that’s a pretty bad sign.

Republicans should fight back with attack ads of their own. I tried to call Rush’s show with this one, but couldn’t get through - have kids trick-or-treating at a house with the Dem’s sign in the yard. The kids can be dressed as a cowboy, a cop, a princess, or whatever, and the libtard who opens the door castigates at them for their costumes, calls them names, tells them they are promoting sexism, colonialism, racism, cultural appropriation and whatever else the current hysterical left is fixated on now. Then he refuses to give them candy because he says they are privileged and poor kids can’t afford costumes.

Also, I really need a new iPhone and hoped Rush would offer me one. :-)
