If Fairfax merged with D.C., would the rest of the state say GOOD RIDDANCE???? lol

Immigrants vote more than two to one Dem. And don’t underestimate the influx of transplanted residents from the Northeast who flock to the honeypot of Wash DC. There is a reason why three of the five richest counties in America are next to DC.

I remember how disappointing the Cuccinelli election was. He was way ahead early. It's going to be close. Hoping Gillespie wins by 0.5.

I voted this morning about 9:30 am. The morons who manage the polls in my district were all excited about there having been 500 votes cast already by then, which, they said, was 1/5th the total. Apparently that meant a big turnout. Rain picked up shortly thereafter, so I doubt the flow kept up.

Not sure what would drive turnout here, except that there’s a very aggressive independent running for Arlington County Board, Audrey Clement, so perhaps that’s part of it. This particular candidate is a leftist loon who has an odd, fiscally conservative bone and who has been pushing hard on taxes and spending. She lost 2 or 3 times to the Democrat Cabal that runs this County, but she seems to have some momentum this time. Hope so!

Meanwhile, mine was probably one of the 8 Gillespie votes in our district...

My suggestion would be for Northern VA, DC and Central MD (Montgomery and PG Counties) to merge into a new state; the rest of VA could join with western, northern MD and the MD Eastern Shore. I think residents of both of the new states would be pleased.

Harry Enten says exit polls has Northam up by 5.

Exit polls need to be wrong for Rs to win tonight.

Seems we are always in that situation.

“Beware the paper ballots that the DEMs have stored in car trunks, waiting for the moment to submit them if the good guys get ahead. Sometimes ya can’t find voting machines in VA, so I hear.

I’m sure Bob Beckel is on it.

Just once, I’d like to see conservative areas hold their vote totals until Fairfax reports, rather than Fairfax being the last to report with its newly “found” ballots.

“If Fairfax merged with D.C., would the rest of the state say GOOD RIDDANCE???? lol”

That’s what should happen because that’s all it is now. Just an appendage of DC.

If Ed can’t get a sizable lead in before Fairfax comes in, doesn’t look good.

“the rest of VA could join with western, northern MD and the MD Eastern Shore. I think residents of both of the new states would be pleased.”

The Dems would throw a hissy fit. They’d basically lose Virginia’s two senators. They don’t care about accurate representation and other nonsense like that (not like the Republican party is much better given the candidates they tend to endorse). Residents, to them, are pests.

Your idea makes way too much sense to be adopted by anyone involved with the swamp ... I mean that as a compliment!

Absolutely, would be a beautiful 2 for 1 trade, only better if it would gerrymand the I95 corridor to include Baltimore in the new state.

Best of all, it would shut up the fools who haven’t a clue as to why DC is a “District” and not a state.

not looking good,,the rural precincts just don’t have the increase in total votes from 2013 and/or percentage for the R,,,

This is being reflected in the NYT meter....
