Well (since I see a doctor every six or seven years) that must employ a ton of bureaucrats.

It's dead, Jim. Without the mandate, there isn't a $trillion dollar floor available to subsidize insurance companies covering pre-existing conditions.

Therefore, they will lobby Congress to quickly & formally kill off O-care before it begins to hit their bottom lines.

Think of that scene in the Battle of the Bulge where the Nazi tanks run out of gas. That's what ending the mandate does.

Doesn’t Obamacare outlaw free-market health insurance companies from selling insurance? So, if you do not purchase an Obamacare health insurance plan there will be no other insurance available for you to purchase on the market.

“Does the bill actually repeal the individual mandate, or does it merely reduce the penalty for failing to obtain health insurance to $0?”

It sets it to $0. The individual mandate is still in effect, just with no penalty.

Well, maybe some of that overprescribing can be rolled back. And stopping Hezbollah’s heroin pipeline into the country may slow the epidemic as well.

Then Obamacare is alive and well.

The mandate was the cornerstone. They knew they had to force people to buy, because those people would pay the high price to subsidize those getting their $1600 plan on the exchange for $25. Now that the mandate is gone, at least 15 million will DROP COVERAGE VOLUNTARILY - they won't be paying those high prices any longer, and they won't be supporting those that don't pay.

How many insurance companies are now selling policies across state lines? Just curious.

Which will mean higher premiums, resulting in higher subsidies and hire offsets to the insurance companies, leading to retention of the Obamcare taxes. So tell me again how it's repealed?

None yet, but removing the negative incentive to go on your own was relied upon by the entire scheme to endure. Without it, the sustaining fuel for the rest is gone. Now (actually with the close of 2018) the other pillars have no foundation and with that going away, so will the others in the real world markets. The legal emasculation will commence immediately in 2018.

No. It repeals one of the more annoying and least liked parts of the measure. Now people can truly go without insurance until they get sick, and then purchase insurance to “pay” for their illness, since they did not change the requirement that all pre-conditions must be covered.

But I would not be surprised if President Trump actually believes this “repeals Obamacare”. He never seemed that upset about any of the ACA except that it forced people to buy insurance.

Next, he’s going to get Long Fence to put up a mile of chain-link and say he “sealed the borders” :)

well yes of course it will. You do understand all insurance (Including Obamacare) enrollment ended last month and it starts rollout in two weeks? It’s too late to save you from the 2017 mandate when you file in 2018. When you file in 2019 for 2018 it should then take effect for you.
