Sure Land Cruisers are sold here now. They’re just unbelievably expensive. $80k.

The Lexus version, LX570, might outsell it. What’s an extra $15k?

In about six weeks I’ll pay my vehicle registration fees again. My vehicle will be twelve years old.

I’m one of those guys that religiously parks in a safe spot, to avoid dings. My 2006 Mercury Mariner looks brand new on the exterior, except for one place where someone keyed the car at my former wife’s place of employment. (about 15 inches on the right front fender)

On the inside it shows a little ware, but it’s still a great vehicle.

I’ll easily have it at the fifteen year mark, perhaps more.

The brakes lasted 45,000 miles.

The tires have lasted 48,750. I’ll be replacing them in about six months.

It gets around 25 mpg around town, and that climbs rapidly to as much as 34 mpg on the open road.

Why would I replace it...

I think they still are under the Lexus moniker.

I don’t believe this list. I’m driving an 18-year old GMC Sierra that I bought new in 2000. It has 260,000 miles on it and has had no major work. I have replaced two sets of brake pads on the front and one set on the back, tuned it up once, replaced one water pump and a window motor. That’s it! I plan to drive it until it won’t go, get it fixed, and drive it some more. It might last the rest of my life though the way it’s going. It still looks like a new truck.

‘97 Toyota PU. Great! Can’t stop for gas without someone offering to buy it...
That having been said, My ‘08 Impala is still going strong with 230k miles.

Does a Tundra count?

Three grandkids will have different tastes in infotainment depending on ages.

Go for an aftermarket infotainment system(s) with back of the headrest video. On kid might want to view a movie while another might want to play an xbox/playstation gaming system. I think the gaming systems also allow video feed, recordings from TV like nickelodeon or Al-Jazeera.

If money is not a problem and you want to take longish road trips consider a satellite TV rig. Dish or Direct TV (AT&T) provide the service and you buy the car’$ antenna. Headphones are good but they have them with microphones as well.

I am a nerd dad so I drive a KIA minvan (Killed in Action?).
so adding or removing seats for luggage or the grandkids parents and/or friends is more easily accomplished. KIA has decent value to durability. I’ve owned 3 with 2 over 175,000 miles.

Last word of wisdom; plan for motion sick kids. The newer minivans windows do roll down at least part way but, keep a watchful guard for a kid who seems to go quiet.

Acura MDX with 250,000 miles. BEST CAR EVER. Too bad they redesigned it so I can’t get a new one.

Top 10 are middle-class grocery getters.

My 3 Cherokee XJ’s have nearly a million mles combined on their combined near 50 years on this earth.
If they could speak, they could make you blush and poop your bloomers.

Most any modern car will last 300K miles, with regular care, unless a design/build flaw.

My Lincoln dealer says they have a waiting list of people who want a Town Car if they come in on trade. I love those old land yachts!
