FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is stepping down from his job and is expected to be replaced by David Bowdich, a senior official who headed the FBIs response to the terrorist attack in San Bernardino, Calif., according to people familiar with the plans.
McCabe will formally retire in March but plans to leave the deputy director position now, a person close to the matter confirmed to The Washington Posts Devlin Barrett and Matt Zapotosky on Monday. McCabe has often been a target of President Trump who asked the deputy director in a private discussion whom he had voted for in the presidential election and congressional Republicans, who have criticized the FBI for its Russia probe. He will use leave time to fill out his remaining time at the agency.
Heres what we know about Bowdich:
He began his career as a police officer in New Mexico
The Albuquerque native graduated from New Mexico State University in 1991. He worked as an officer with the Albuquerque Police Department from 1991 to 1995, patrolling the Southeast and North Valley area commands, according to the Albuquerque Journal. He also worked as a detective during his time in the North Valley.
He was very ambitious, very smart and very physically fit, Deputy Police Chief Robert Huntsman told the Albuquerque Journal. Huntsman was a sergeant when Bowdich was a cadet at the police academy.
He was an informal leader for the other cadets, Huntsman said.

We forget quickly.
It’s OK bert. We all know what side of the police state you live on.
Until we know who was compromised we need to be very careful...
Happy New Year, Howie!!!
The question is, I suppose, is the new guy one of us - or one of “them”...
Agreed. They are now deep state and dont want to lose their jobs while they look away. If the WAPO gave a good review of the guy, then he’s gonna be another deep state lackey.
There are theoretically three categories of FBI types: the 0bama blackhat cabal, those who condone the actions of the 0bama blackhat cabal, and those who condemn the actions of the 0bama blackhat cabal.
There is no evidence that there are any in the third category.
Actually, there is a lot. There are many Republicans that refute the nonsense by solidly affirming the good guys in the FBI.
To ignore their assertions is just silly
#58. Probably even swampier.
“I dont have much faith in the integrity of cops.
I had a guy who worked for me a few years ago.”
.
ONE bad guy and you knock the other 600.000 of them?
Yup.
Because last spring I got a speeding ticket for doing 31 mph in a 30 mph zone (on the way to work at 4:45am with hardly anyone else on the road) and it cost me $120 and a mark on my license that made my car insurance go up.
Shall I go on? Last summer, they gave my wife a ticket for tinted windows in spite of the fact that a prescription tinted windows permit sticker issued by the DMV was clearly displayed at the top of each tinted window. My wife has a photosensitive skin condition and cannot be in the sun. They told her there was no such thing as a DMV permit for tinted windows. Her case was later dropped, but only after she had to take off work to go to court with proof.
And therein lies the problem.... Law (of which there are too damn many) Enforcement vs what used to be known as Peace Officers.
In their defense, if they spoke out under Obama/McCabe/Comey, they’d be out, and the entire FBI would have been leftist shitbags. If you were in there, do you publicly burn in and hand the agency to them, or stay, and try to bust balls behind the scenes?
I’d also point out it is an intel agency, so if you want to fight in that milieu, you publicly take the side of McCabe, and approach and help Trump behind the scenes as he takes it all down. Maybe they broke into polling places and thwarted voter fraud behind the scenes.
I’d wait to see if there are any who get out who do a Kalstrom and help expose this thing as Trump begins to deal with it. But many may not, because as intel guys the measure of success may just be Trump getting in and cleaning everything out.
We don’t really have enough info to make any judgment on them.
He was fired from his position as DD. Rather than take the demotion, he retired and went on terminal leave. Just like when the Navy fires the CO of a ship, and he is sent to a shore command until they figure out what to do with him. “Fired” in both of these cases means fired from their specific position. We all know how difficult it is to truly get rid of federal (and military) employees. That said, McCabe can still be stripped of his pension if there is evidence of serious misconduct or a crime. Yeah, not likely, I know.
He announced his decision to retire last year.
The problem is this. The Republicans who are so hot to praise the "Rank and File" Fibbies are POLITICIANS. They might have every reason, like the tapes of them and a naked Boy Scout troop, to want to keep the "Rank and File" from thinking they aren't trusted.
Whenever you read history, like the story of Dillinger, their handling of Oppenheimer and the Manhatten Project spies, the Kennedy killing, MLK and CoIntelPro, the Mob, Watergate, Waco, Ruby Ridge, and the FBI is involved, they ALWAYS come away as a bunch of blundering, murderous, arrogant f#ckups.
I'd like to know where Lon Horiuchi is, now, and how long he hid on board Quantico, and where the DoJ Witness Protection Program stashed him... There are A LOT of people who would still like to see that trigger happy FBI butcher bricked up in a 4x8 cell at Gitmo until he dies.
It's his son.
