Democratic Senators are rejecting President Donald Trumps four-part amnesty-and-immigration reform, and are instead working with business-first GOP Senators to pass an amnesty with only token reforms.
There is not likely to be a DACA deal, though were working every single day, on telephone calls and person to person, to try to reach this bipartisan agreement, Sen. Dick Durbin told Jake Tapper on the February 4 edition of CNNs State of the Union. Durbin said the Democrats would not stage another shutdown, but declared:
I think were making real progress. I want to salute the moderates in both the Republicans and Democratic caucuses in the Senate. They have really been a positive voice, Democrats and Republicans sitting in the same room working to try to solve this problem.
The Democrats sharp-elbowed rejection of Trumps four-part plan including an amnesty for at least 1.8 million illegals explains Trumps Friday complaints that Democrats are not bargaining over his four-part framework offer. The offer trades the amnesty in exchange for a border wall with legal upgrades, plus ending the diversity lottery and winding down the chain migration program over the next 10 years.

“release the deportation hounds.”
Yes, please Lord, let it be so.
There are those Republicans stupid enough to vote for a massive importation of illegal aliens to drive down wages. They are too stupid to realize that almost all of these milions of people will vote for Venezuelan style communism and take everything they have.
If the Dims refuse the deal, fine. Deportations will be starting in a month. More winning.
The Rats know POTUS won’t sign another Amnesty Gang deal. They just want a “bipartisan” deal to fail so they can blame Trump.
I said weeks ago that backstabbing Ryan/McTurtle Cheap Labor Express RINOS would pass a POS DACA deal with a majority of demturds to force Trump into either signing it losing his base or vetoing it and getting a demturd controled congress.
Not gonna happen because the GOPe need Trumpist votes in November and they won’t risk depressing our turnout.
True dat....and February is a short month....so sad.
The poison dream of cheap labor is what brought slavery and open borders and the generational repercussions of both.
I believe in the longer term, Donald will outclass such an approach. In the shorter term, there will be trouble.
This will help expose the traitors in the GOP camp.
Just more bs grandstanding. Anything bad will be quickly vetoed and they know it. Theyre not interested in defending USA or our jobs. Theyre also not interested in helping illegal immigrants , just using them as illegal voters
Doesn't begin to make sense. We're working very hard to fail?
"I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part"
This is purely a PR stunt by dems to paint themselves as “seekers of bipartisan agreement” because they are getting destroyed on this issue in the court of public opinion.
If they can undermine Pres T in the process, they see that as so much the better.
Once these DACA ‘dreamers” start heading back to Mexico/Central America in early March, dems might be more willing to get serious. If not, well, every broken “dream” is their fault.
and McCain will introduce a bill without funding for the Wall ,D’oh
Big business “republicans” (small R intentional) want the cheap labor.
There is simply NO WAY that the vast majority of Republicans will side with Schumer on Amnesty - even if they want to, they know its political suicide.
A majority wont have to. the Rats have 49 Senators they will probably get 10 rinos the deal passes easily. Trump has shown no inclination to veto but well see.
I guess we have to wait until we have a 60/40 split in the senate before this deal gets done.
&&&&&&&&&&
Need a lot more than that.
We currently have just 4 Senators on the side of the citizens and the rule of law.
Cotton, Cruz, Grassley and Perdue.
Thats it.
Flake, Corker, Hatch, Heller, Alexander, Graham, McCain, Murkowsky, Hoeven, Rubio, Tillis, Burr, Lankford, Gardner, Cornyn, Cochran, Collins, Sasse, Kennedy, Shelby, Ernst, Blunt, McConnell, Wicker, Portman, Isakson, Johnson, Toomey, Rounds, Thune, Barasso and Enzi are all owned by the Cheap Labor Express.
