I saw the same thing growing up in the Hudson Valley region of NY. When I was a kid, it was considered the “sticks”, we still had lots of farmland etc. Then the exodus from NYC happened and the folks who were priced out of Rockland and Westchester Counties came North, with them came the demand for things like, sidewalks on every street, paving of all roads and increased public services. Of course, with that came the increase in taxes and our reliably “Red” counties became purple.

The big problem with people leaving these Blue States for Red States is they bring their Politics with them and they tend to turn their new States into the same kind of political junk yards they just left. They already did it to Oregon and Washington and keep an eye on North Carolina and Nevada as examples of this.

This migration of Leftists into American states to avoid the consequences of their voting habits is as destructive to freedom as the migration of Muslims into the USA.

We can always repay the “kindness” that they have shown to us, when they show up in our communities.

Any reason to leave a blue sate is fine so long as they leave the blue state “stupidity” behind. Several western states have been ruined by liberals dragging their bad blue state baggage of ideas to a new location, only to demand those same ideas be incorporated into their new locations. It is the same as those who migrate to America and demand the rules and laws of their prior countries be allowed here in the U.S. Make the “state” migrators sign an agreement to abide by their new (red) states rules or stay out. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.

I assumed it was conservatives doing the moving.

When I lived in Louisiana, I ran into a Yankee transplant from Ohio. She started on a rant about how "You People" in LA are so racist, and why don't you just get along with black people, why do you have to hate, blah, blah, blah. I stared at her for a second and then my brain actually worked enough to dredge up two words which I said at her before turning and walking away: Marge Schott.

With the exception of Houston, according to Redfin, the top nine cities people are leaving are all in blue states. Besides San Francisco, they include New York, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, Chicago, Houston, Detroit, Dayton and Milwaukee.

There is something squirrely with their metrics. DC's population is growing and is becoming more affluent. The lower income folks are being pushed out by gentrification. (Good riddance to the gangbangers, who should all move to Baltimore where they will fit right in. But it's a real problem when good, solid blue collar people as well as the teachers, police officers, young professionals with less than six figure incomes, etc. can't afford to live in the city.)

What, exactly, is this survey measuring? And in the DC area, are they looking at the city or the metro area, which is a very different animal?

I assumed it was conservatives doing the moving.

That's because you (incorrectly) believe that liberals like the disastrous results of their moronic policies any more than conservatives do. They don't, but they never seem to be able to make the connection between their politics and the decline of everything around them...

Sadly, you’re right. We’re seeing this now with those stupid SJWs in Charlotte. They ruin everything they touch.

That’s because union goonz do all the paving and sidewalking. :-)

Paving and sidewalks aren’t bad things to have, IMO, as long as the option exists to have people other than union goonz doing the jobs. #RightToWork

That’s a good one. Below-80-IQ racist knuckleheads aren’t found only in the South. Besides, Louisiana, like my state of Maryland, stopped being a segregationist craphole long ago.

BTW, how are segregationist and liberal policies alike? They both involve big government.
