The Parkland school shooting has made media stars out of at least two of the survivors, students Emma Gonzalez and David Hogg. Both are advocates of additional gun control laws, and have been extremely critical of President Trump. That is surely their right, as it is also their right to take this moment of national attention to promote their views.
But is interesting to note how the pair have become so media-savvy, and are emphasizing media exposure over other priorities. On CNN this morning, asked whether they would be there when Parkland re-opened, Gonzalez said:
“As soon as we can, we are going to go back into the school. As soon as they say school is on Monday, I’m going to be there—I’m pretty sure. Unless I have interviews — unless we have interviews.”

These kids need be in school.
Thats their job and the parents need to enforce that.

Juvenile delinquents RULE the schools and they should be outraged at their school’s discipline code and screaming about that. Nikolas Cruz was never busted at school because of the new 2013 NAACP collaborative discipline policy:
Broward County’s School Discipline ‘Agreement” signed by the Sheriff, State Atty and local judges.
These various behaviors will NOT result in suspension or expulsion or notification to the police. Instead they receive warnings, lectures and possible stern scolding!
These infractions include:
All student misbehavior and
these non-violent infractions:
Disrupting or Interfering with class
Affray - fighting in a public place
Theft if less than $300
Vandalism damages < $1,000
Disorderly conduct
Trespassing, Loitering or Prowling
Criminal Mischief
Gambling
Harrassment or Threats
Alcohol -all related offenses
Possession of Cannabis
Drug Paraphernalia
Obstructing Justice w/out Violence

With this quote it’s now clear that they’ve decided to enter politics based on what happened, so they’re FAIR GAME in my book - NO ONE has a right to shut down political opposition, regardless of the circumstances.
If they want to go back to being students, then they should be left alone - but not until then.
Reminds me of Bill Clinton complaining about Senator Max Cleland’s opponent. Clinton was saying that the Republican who was opposing his re-election needed to SHUT UP because he left 3 limbs in Vietnam. What Clinton didn’t say was that he voted as a flaming liberal and the criticism was only in that area. Thankfully he lost that election.

I don’t care how many people they lost, they have no right to advocate for fascism. These people are just as dangerous as the nutter that shot up the school.
I will not criticize these kids. Their lives were traumatized and they lost friends and teachers.

That school is bigger than a lot of small towns. Chances are they didn’t know any of the victims.
Thanks...we have as much right to fight back when someone enters the political world as they have to enter it in the first place.
And that is an ABSOLUTE and our side needs to start thinking that way.
Its their turn for the 15 minutes.
Let’s not forget the march on Washington. That will take more time away from school.

I’ll add: After her husband was killed by a black Jamaican racist whose intention was to kill white people....white people who were not able to defend themselves because of New York’s draconian gun control laws.

They said the time for debate is over and they are giving NRA backed Republicans a chance to meet with them to repudiate the NRA and 2nd Amendment or be punished on November.
They are also calling for the NRA to be “disbanded and dismantled and not replaced.”
